Re: Random Conworld idea thread

I've had this idea sitting away in my "con" folder on my laptop for a while... The "masters" and the "forgetters." The forgetters were very advanced. They had an alliance, but the forgetters were decimated during a battle so the masters conquered them. The masters stole...

Re: What theme does your conworld have?

I have like a con-galaxy. None of my conworlds are on one globe... Let's see... For the most part, medieval/fantasy with a heavy dose of "romanticized" Mediterranean...ness. I'll have castles and queens and stuff like that but, for example, my main conworld (T'Arlo) is heavily influenced b...

The crest is 4 pieces of wheat, a very important crop in T'Arlo, to represent each region with the knot to represent the country as a whole, I think. (I forgot to write down what the knot represented.) The crest is worn ...

Re: Gender

I'm not a fan of gender, but I frequently use animate/inanimate roughly as the same thing. But it's more black and white that way compared to choosing if an inanimate object is male or female.

Re: How to get rid of perfectionism

You could make it be just an island without design for now, or something. Then you can say the capital is in the south and there is a major bay in the east, for example. Alternatively, if they are a more primitive people, you could make the map like an old map, with exaggerations and errors: http://...

Re: Money!

Wait wait wait, it's all barter AND prices are centrally set? If the prices are allowed to adjust to supply and demand, then why have centrally decided prices at all? Why not just let people trade whatever for whatever? In the event of a big spike in demand, how can the central managers change pric...

Re: Money!

Yes, guess I meant barter. I was just noticing the rarity in T'Arlo that people barter more in advanced, urban cities and much less in the less advanced cities. I associate bartering with less advanced cities, and not with advanced cities. Why? It's not really possible to have a complex economy in ...

Re: Money!

Trading is still done in city centers, but outside these areas currency is used to purchase things By "Trading" do you mean "barter", as almost all human nations have always traded to some degree (unless they use a pure gift economy, as among the Aninhdhilyagwa)? Yes, guess I me...
