Re: Lexember 2021 - Open to Weekly Theme Suggestions!

If anybody wants another place to share things, I mentioned Lexember on Dreamwidth so we're doing it at the All Bingo community there. All Bingo is a space for creative people to share their work, using bingo cards for inspiration. Post about your own work and enjoy what other people are creating. h...

Re: Lexember 2021 - Open to Weekly Theme Suggestions!

How about then something like - motion or moving the body, moving an object, etc - states like sleeping, resting, standing, sitting - mental activity (thinking, writing, creating, inventing, dreaming...) - location and moving (being, at, travel, all the prepositions, flying, driving) I'm just brains...

Re: Lexember 2021 - Open to Weekly Theme Suggestions!

I'd second verbs, perhaps a couple weeks worth? You could even theme the whole month with parts of speech.

Re: Lexember 2020

I must admit I'm not very well-acquainted with your languages, but after this month I think I've become familiar with the names and general aesthetics of at least a few of them. This may be a silly question, but based on the presence of "cat" in your username, I'm curious: is the name &qu...

Re: Lexember 2020

The last bunch and I'm cheating. All of these mean 'year'

28 Ŋyjichɯn: lɒikyɒtɯa /wɒi.'tyɒ.pɯa/
29 Maanxmuʃt: ɦuonθei /'ɦuon.θei/
30 Ntwkso: rivai /ɾɨ.'vaɨ/
31 Tynthna: tsirrii /tsi.riː/

Bonus:

Ie: kyō7vkyou7 - /khjəv.kjoʊ/ (low tone on both syllables)
Tsɑkø: ægød - /'æ.gød/

Re: Thunlangs scrap thread

Big update to the website - https://silvercat.neocities.org

Ochyn and Ravar just have placeholders at the moment. But three of the four writing systems are up (Omlirt alphabet started by Ochyn, Ovim runes from Nwtukso, and the Ŋyjichɯn alphabet)

Re: Thunlangs scrap thread

As far as surnames, again Maanxmusht, Ylialis, Ravar and related languages use the same system. The child takes both parents' given names. The order varies with context - generally the more well-known will be last, but if one is being introduced to someone who knows one's mother better, the mother's...

Re: Thunlangs scrap thread

Okay, I did Claudus, Jaga, and Lion-o. Maanxmusht - Ylialis - Ylialis IPA - meaning (Maanxmusht is same as IPA, except double vowels = long) Kloudus - Klaodus - /klaʊ.duːs/ - royal Xaga - Jaga - /dʒæ.ga/ - fierce Laano - Laeno - /lein.noʊ/ - brave I could transliterate the other Thundercats' name, b...

Re: Thunlangs scrap thread

I haven't done much with Ylialis yet, because I'm working on Maanxmusht first as it's an older sibling. Ylialis, however, has phonology that makes transcribing stuff from other languages kinda interesting. Consonants: (same as IPA unless marked) stops: p b d k g sibilants: s, j(/dʒ/) sonorants: m n ...

Re: Thunlangs scrap thread

Maanxmusht, Ravar, and Ylialis have the same naming traditions. Babies are typically named after their birth order, the conditions at birth, colors, descriptions of the child, or precious things. Parents may use just the word or add a gendered ending like -in, -ash, -eth, -um (feminine) or -et, -ik,...

25 lindalumd - first (ordinal + one)
26 liniwa - second (ordinal + two)
27 piuva - cold

Will be putting more details in my Thunlangs scrap thread

Re: Lexember 2020

Dammit, I will finish Lexember this year. To almost catch up, all the words I currently have for Ntukso, the language that invented the runes. Each of these are also the name of the rune/letter they start with. 10. oddo /ˈɔːd.dɔ/ (horse) 11. vjivrw /ˈvjɨːð.ɾu/ (person) 12. ikaha /ɨ.ˈka.haː/ (river) ...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

Is the language also called Omlirt? No, it's named after the country. The language is Ochyn, which I haven't actually made, although I know what letters they used now (although not necessarily what phonemes). I'm trying to fill out the world somewhat but I swear, I have too many language names and ...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

Worked on the page for the Omlirt Alphabet and the languages that use it. Some of the letters were borrowed from runes so I ended up making all the Ovim runes. I should see if Dad has any scrap wood to carve it on.

Re: Easy way to draw conscripts in Illustrator

This post and the blog post was based on what I was doing with a particular conlang. This is for a script that's designed on a computer - if you want a hand-written script the easiest way to do it is to draw it by hand (with a brush or pen) and scan it. I'm also assuming that people can look at it a...

Mine are mostly on paper, but I've recorded a few Nyjichun words for the lexicon. I should pronounce all my conlangs more because I always forget the vowels.

Re: Thunlangs scrap thread

Tynthna is a fun language inspired when I overheard a show that used the word 'tatami' A LOT. So it has interesting syllable restrictions. From the page for it (https://silvercat.neocities.org/tynthna.html): Tynthna has unusual word formation rules. There are two sets of consonants that can start a ...

Re: Using Inspiration Pad Pro as a word generator

Our coda choices are: sonorant consonants, unvoiced stops or unvoiced fricatives, but r and ʀ can’t follow diphthongs and m can’t follow long vowels or diphthongs (r or l)x x(ʃ or t) n(coronal and dorsal stops and fricatives) I’m going to skip the first one for now, because it’ll probably mean signi...
