When I initially saw the chart I imagined the symbols'd all be in a single column rather than hanging off the side of the main line, more like so:

Yup, that's /!/.GrandPiano wrote:Like this?Dezinaa wrote:The "tick-tock" sound is probably /!/, and alveolar/retroflex click (varies). Some languages slap the tongue onto the bottom of the mouth after the release, which is probably closer to what you're talking about, qwed.

Re: Artificial grammar rules in natlangs
Standard Dutch has a contrast between hen/hun (3.pl), where the former is accusative, and the latter is genitive/dative. IIRC this rule was implemented when some guy wrote a grammar on Dutch and decided it would be fancy and neat.

IE-inspired you mean, I'm assuming? Honestly, I'm not sure. There's so many fun things in all the world's languages, and besides, IIRC we had more votes for semitic/create our own than IE, didn't we?

Re: Pancake (working title) - Collaborative conlang
I honestly want either <â> like Romanian or <õ> like Skolt Saami, but <y> with <j> for /j/ is cool too. I mostly just don't want i with diacritics.
Although, I'm fine with <ı>, but that'd confuse the alphabetisers.

/t͡ɬ ɬ/?
The diacritic seems to represent a stop turning into a fricative.

Re: Pancake (working title) - Collaborative conlang
Well, the reason I prefer <õ> is that, for one, it's used in a natlang, just like your propositions, but not only that, it actually has some width, ensuring that its diacritic doesn't interfere with surrounding letters, unlike what happens with <i> with diacritics next to other letters that have the...

What about West Greenlandic with a palatal series, possible a front rounded or back unrounded vowel series? That's got a lot of room for change, I'd say.

Re: Proposing to create a conlang with multiple people
Sure, that looks fine, but I'd prefer for /ɨ/ to have a single grapheme dedicated to it, perhaps we could use õ? Also, I really want j for /j/. If we decide to add /ʐ/ or /ʒ/ I'd say we use ž.

Apart from Omnesian they all sound pretty nice for me, but Pancake is fine, too.
