Re: Swedish Sj-sound
I'd go with [x(ʷ)] and [ʃ] if you're looking for the standard realizations, with the latter appearing initially in unstressed syllables and at the end of a word. You can take a look at this thread for a discussion on the sound (which actually mentions [ʃˠ]). I should note that I transcribe [ʂ] as [ʃ].

Looks cool. Do you have any sound changes to share, or are you just winging it?

Re: Corporate Collab-Lang
My decision was based off of the fact that the more widely used a language is, the simpler its grammar. The most widely used languages (Chinese, 1.39 billion and English, 1.3 billion) have the simplest grammatical structure. Also, isolating languages tend to be easier to learn for L2 learners than ...

I guess I jumped to the wrong conclusion. Anyway, I would also like to know the reason for threecat's decision.Bulbichu22 wrote: Thats why I used QuantumWrath's post to answer threecat's question as to why I said what.

Threecat didn't get that though, which is why QuantumWraith clarified your statement.

Re: Corporate Collab-Lang
I thought you found the edit button, so why not use it every once in a while? I mean, it's one thing if you were to bump this thread with a batch of (significant) new information, but if it's only one sentence I see no need for a new post. Maybe you could try working on different projects or go for ...

Re: Let's Talk about Syntax (NP: Topic Ideas etc)
I too think the topics in your opening post look promising. I'm looking forward to applying your teachings to a recent project of mine which will be fairly analytic and syntax heavy. So far, though, I only really have the basic phrase structures sketched out. Will you be covering antipassive constru...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
I got some work on Āda done today. Maybe I'll create a thread for it in a day or two, and if I do I'll probably go with Xing's approach for cowlang and only post a feature a day. Or maybe I'll limit myself to working on it 30 minutes a day and posting whatever I come up with.

Re: Yay or Nay?
I'm sure the trend will pass eventually. (Remember when everyone created languages that had /ɬ/ in the consonant inventory?) And personally I haven't seen too many Fluid-S conlangs recently, but maybe I haven't been paying attention.

Re: Corporate Collab-Lang
Your repeating the question is getting a bit annoying, so I'll just provide you with /p pʰ b t tʰ d k kʰ g q qʰ ʔ/ based on Ahzoh's answer to keep this thread from being bumped with the same question in a day or two.I decided against a voiced uvular stop because of its rarity. If you're not satisfie...

Re: A guide to small consonant inventories
What, Cubeo? It's marginal there: IIRC it's an allophone of /j/, but it can't be substituted with /j/ in about twelve words so it's analyzed as phonemic. According to Gramátic del cubeo /j/ has eight allophones: [j j̃ ð ð̃ dʒ ɲ n dʒ n j]. • [j] occurs between /i ĩ/ and a following oral vowel: /bĩˈb...

Re: Corporate Collab-Lang
Due to the rugged nature of my conworld, most nations' languages have uvulars and ejectives because the low air pressure at high altitudes makes it easier to pronounce them. What does the air pressure have to do with anything? I think I read somehwere that what type of Word Order depends whether it...

Re: Logogrammic Conscripts
I have been considering creating a logographic script for a while now, either for a descendant of Proto-Halisian or some other language in my world. It will be a lot of work, especially seeing as I'm not all too familiar with logographic scripts, but I'm sure it will be worth it in the end. I have a...

Re: Cow Language
I hope I've found a good middle path. Nobody reads a linked 200-page grammar. And I would like something more than the a-phoneme-inventory-and-one-paragraph-of-grammar style of threads. Sounds like a nice plan. Maybe I'll try doing something like that the next time I open a thread. AFAIK something ...

Xaw hi qaeryo!
Anyway, the "one-feature-a-day" strategy seems nice. I like the use of the accusative to indicate the object's specificity. I'll be sure to keep an eye on this thread.

Made some nice progress on Proto-Halisian today. Hopefully I'll have something decent(ish) to share by Christmas.
