Re: Started a Worldbuilding YouTube Channel

This was really cool! I follow the channel WorldbuildingNotes and I'm always interested in more people telling stories from their world. Thank you! I'm a big fan of WorldbuildingNotes as well. A few other YouTubers you might be interested in are Nakari Speardane, Artifexian (he's more analytical), ...

Started a Worldbuilding YouTube Channel

Hello, everyone! I know it has been a really long time since I was last here and since I last posted. Life has been overwhelming and mostly all encompassing these past few years. Somehow in the midst of that chaos I was able to keep working on my own worldbuilding project and conlang. My husband had...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Sure! Go ahead and absolutely do it! Perhaps a short mini-series for world, culture and language? When once you've gotten a short series of videos done, please do join the Language Creation Society and create a presentation for the next LCC! (Maybe make the slides in English, but talk in your inven...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

I think this is the right place to ask this kind of question. However, I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to ask. Are you asking if you should do this or not? If you think it would be fun, then I'd say go for it! Yeah I guess I was asking if I should do it. Or maybe I'm asking if anyone think...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

I'm really bad at figuring out which topic is the best place to ask questions, so I'm going to try it here if that's fine. If not, feel free to point me to the correct forum! Thanks! I was considering doing a YouTube series where I explain my completed conlang, its world, the speakers, and all thing...

Re: Telemiska - Orthography

Thank you both! Sorry it's taken me this long to respond. I think I understand now. They would be allophones. As for the rules: second overrides first and third overrides both first and second. Consider rule one to be general and then the other rules overwrite it. In dual forms they just go back for...

Re: Telemiska - Orthography

Thank you both for answering my question about the difference between phones and phonemes. I don't know why but I generally can figure out the other terms and concepts in regards to creating a conlang; however, when it comes to these two I really struggle. It might be my dyslexia. They just refuse t...

Telemiska - Orthography

I just started working on a new language for my universe and I almost immediately hit a snag: orthography. Orthography is not one of my strong points. I'd say it's one of many of my weak points when working on a language. I saved it for second to last on my previous project, so I figured I'd come ge...

Translation Challenge "IF"

I don't know why this idea won't go away (and I know I'm not on here much), but I thought I'd throw the challenge out there, even though I haven't tried it either. Maybe it will give me the push to try it out as well. Anyways, my favorite poem is "If" by Rudyard Kipling and this is the cha...

Poetic Speech Sitting in an odd miscellaneous position, poetic speech will adopt informal and formal speech depending on the mood of the script. Sometimes a more direct approach is necessary with formal pronouns and sometimes a more familiar speech is used and nuances are tucked into the order of l...

Informal Speech Family Speech: Summary: During the occupation of Reteniyasn̆ by Aven, families were broken up frequently. Formal Speech Upper echelon speech: Summary: Most reiþ divide their upper echelon into three groups: omewoisänv, birävlassänv, and yuuh̀ärsänv, which collectively can be called the aristocracy, but individually would best be described as royalty, monarchy, and nobility respectfully. TYPES OF SPEECH Reiþ, like most civilizations, have etiquette and customs which must be observed. When this comes to speech, one can break down Tiyen Gresgöl speech into two basic categories: formal speech and informal speech, but Tiyen Gresgöl is a hint more complicated than this. Formal speech can...

Re: Tiyen Gresgol

Oh, so the romanisation is in fact a transliteration for the alphabet as well? That still leaves the question of how the alphabet came to represent ordinary stops with compound characters. Yes, but I think this is covered in the "hard and soft" section. Or perhaps I'm still not understand...

I've only just discovered this thread, and so far it looks rather interesting. Thank you! [:D] I do have a few gripes, though. Well, this is quite the critique, but I'll attempt to tackle it. Firstly phonology, though actually it's more about your presentation and romanisation of the consonants in ...

Re: Tiyen Gresgol

I'm currently debating whether or not I should include my SEMANTICS section. This includes the names of days, hours, seasons, etc. and Honorifics and Names of individuals, which are a huge part of reiþ society. However, I do feel they fit more in line with "Culture" than "Language&quo...
