Re: Sun Speech (Isidriè), and its script - Scratchpad
This "opposite gender" function is called gender polarity. Akkadian does it with numbers. That's pretty neat. I've read some other ones like Cushitic languages do it with singulars and plurals. Would it be possible to see some more texts written? Of course! But for now I'm still fixing up...

Re: Con-Script Development Centre
Funny, I was also planning on adding logographic and ideographic elements to Sun Script like a cross between Egyptian and Japanese systems. It's a syllabary, so it'd be a lot closer to how Japanese functions, using logograms for meaty roots and morphemes and "kana" for everything else. But...

Re: Sun Speech (Isidriè), and its script - Scratchpad
How 'modern' is this society? That is to say, what if you're GLBT? Do you use default, what the culture perceives as the opposite gender? Is the cultural perception the default, or your own gendered deictic center? Conversely, are there more female warriors and scribes than in years past? Would the...

Re: Sun Speech (Isidriè), and its script (Isidriaghò)
NOUNS, pt. 1 // Gender Three genders, or classes, are present in Isidriè: the two natural genders, masculine and feminine, and a third called “celestial”, which includes nouns related to the sky and, by extension, nouns of high stature or status. Genders are not naturally marked in the words themse...

Re: Sun Speech (Isidriè), and its script (Isidriaghò)
It sounds to me like you're going for either a possessive-accusative or a double-possessive style; Both are fine, but you should decide which one your lang uses (and "either" is a possible choice). A possessive-accusative style seems sensible with what I have, so I'll go with that. I'll j...

Re: You
So I'm really bad at both introductions and not lurking, so here's an effort at both. Alias(es): Redovas (here, also my ESO character); arienzio (dA, reddit, etc.; it's just my name spelled out in Americanese); irrationalnumber (tumblr); and a host of others I use when I'm feelin' shady. Location: A...

Re: Sun Speech (Isidriè), and its script (Isidriaghò)
Click, thanks so much. I... I realize now that the site was the first result when you google "gloss infix", so my lazy ass is very grateful you saved me the trouble. I should've bookmarked it when I first visited it months ago. As for the art style, I'm not totally sure. My only real "...

Re: Sun Speech (Isidriè), and its script (Isidriaghò)
I'll be perfectly honest with ya, Micamo, I put very little thought into the structure of that sentence since I just needed something to write. Just a warning. But let's see how much of it I can try and justify... It's interesting that the definiteness markers kha-, bèl-, iòr-, etc. are prefixes rat...

Re: Sun Speech (Isidriè), and its script (Isidriaghò)
Thanks for the lovely comments, you guys. I used up a good few pens figuring out the script so I'm glad it's being received so nicely. I can haz a gloss of that first sentence? Comin' right up: Onumuasia khabandòlezar uèmmio sè bèlzairh paldazziò iòriòliauèsciyo onum-ua-sia kha-bandòl-ezar uèmmio sè...

Sun Speech (Isidriè), and its script - Scratchpad
SUN SPEECH • ISIDRIÈ MOTHER TONGUE OF THE SUN KINGDOM | VIAMMÈ AL IVETATUE B’ISIDRIA http://i.imgur.com/lTDcql0.png Something like "The two sentries watch the aurous sun embrace the stars." More on the script below. So I'm really bad at sticking to one thing for long periods of time, so p...
Re: Halbesh: what am I doing
@Micamo: Mainly because the syllables of miral and ola are just grouped in that way. I didn't really think of why when I wrote those out a year ago(shame on me), but I personally prefer the sound of the conjugations with those two syllabifications (though not all are syllabified that oddly). Would i...
Re: Halbesh: what am I doing
// NOUNS Er, these are still pretty iffy. I'll get back to you on that... // VERBS So Halbesh is OSV, which I didn't realize was extremely rare in natlangs until recently. At least I have Yoda on my side. My current verb system isn't too complex at the moment, with four tenses and four general aspe...
Re: Halbesh: what am I doing
Thanks for the enthusiasm, guys! Sorry about all the careless errors; typing this out at 3 AM wasn't my brightest idea. Also I'm still fairly new to all the advanced linguistic and grammatical concepts (an intro ling class only takes you so far), so if I mislabel something or if there's a proper ter...
Halbesh
HALBESH Halbesh ( Holbaesh /ħɔlbaˈɛɕ/) is something I started last year as a simple naming lang, but as I worked on it and its importance in my world grew I figured I'd try go all the way. It's my first real attempt at a full conlang, so for someone who's only done this stuff once in a while this p...
