Re: CBB Audio Relay I (Sign ups)
You could in theory run an eternal relay by posting torches with a delay, ie. Participant 1's torch is published after Participant 2 passes the torch to Participant 3. I would rather not have to do that. Torch received. Hey VaptuantaDoi, how has progress on the torch been proceeding? Forwards. Slowl...

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
How does stress-ogenesis work? Does it work like tonogenesis or can stress just spontaneously appear in languages without word stress? Tone and stress are linked and there's that but I don't think there's a true stress-less tone-less language. In cases where there's no phonetic word level stress th...

Re: Indecipherable languages
And even when we know which language is encoded in a script, it may resist decipherment. A case in point is the Rongorongo tablets from Easter Island. We know which language this must be - it can hardly be anything else than an archaic form of the Rapa Nui Polynesian language that is spoken by the ...

Re: CBB Audio Relay I (Sign ups)
Oop, timing - just sent the torch to Jackk! I'll send it on to Mándinrùh instead. Apologies again for the delay, all, the timing on this just happened to clash perfectly terribly with a whole host of things. Don't worry about it yet, I haven't yet gotten confirmation from Mándinrùh that they will t...

Re: CBB Audio Relay I (Sign ups)
Since we're drawing close to November, just giving advance notice that I will be unavailable from November 23-28, as I will be visiting family for US Thanksgiving in case I end up landing there. -- With current delays in mind, just wanted to know if you two are okay with switching, so that Mándinrù...

Re: CBB Audio Relay I (Sign ups)
How developed does my language have to be? Can I still sign up? Can this be done over email? There’s no minimum for developedness but you should feel confident enough in your language and your abilities that if you had a short simple text you’d be able to translate it. Part of that comes from the l...

Re: CBB Audio Relay I (Sign ups)
One final question: if there is a sentence that looks like it would be an idiom/saying, should I translate it literally? Oh, and this is officially the last time I will use Laakitlantu 1.0 for anything, continuing the tradition of all of my relay languages being scrapped / redone. You should transl...

Re: CBB Audio Relay I (Sign ups)
Would I still be able to sign up? Preference would be for going near the end here, so as to avoid as much potential conflict with the preparations for my older sister's wedding on October 14th as possible. If the answer is yes, I would like to join with Atruozan as per the usual (it's finally an ex...

Re: CBB Audio Relay I (Sign ups)
The first torch has been sent to loglorn! (formally as of September 6th)
It will still be possible to sign up for the relay, for any hesitant straggler, until this Sunday.
Thank you! Let the fun begin!

Re: CBB Audio Relay I (Sign ups)
I'd like to (tentatively) sign up with Stách'í Góónína - hopefully before my classes start back up at the beginning of October! Great to see you, (I feel like the last time I talked to you was on the CBB IRC days, long long ago). If it works I'll try to put you earlier in the queue. There's a lot o...

Re: Lagomorphese - Do These Phonemes Make Sense?
I'm creating a proto-langauge for what are essentially sentient, anthro rabbits ~295 million years in the future. I want this language to have an overall softer sound, but I also want the sounds made to be plausibly made by a rabbit, assuming these evolved ones are not nose-breathers. This means fo...
