Re: Kḥeutpsāc
The focus of the verb is stated in the focus case. Is there any more you could tell us about what exactly it means for something to be the focus of a verb here? Essentially, it's what the sentence is "about". Is the sentence about you, who see a ship, or the ship, which was seen by you? I...

Re: Stave System
This is a very esthetically appealing writing system, and I look forward to seeing more of it. As others have said, the sketch-like feel is very nice.

Now, I like the M-T aspect, so it's the final vowel that'll be changed. The contenders are ta and tu . Any ideas? If this is still up in the air, I'd say I prefer ta . Re: Random phonology/phonemic inventory thread
Here's a thing that I came up with once when I was trying to figure out something that would be as anti-SAE as feasible whilst not being a click or tonal language: /t: k: q:/ /p t k q/ /ɗ ɠ/ /p͡f t͡ɬ t͡s t͡ʃ/ /h̪͆ ɬ s ʃ/ (I quite like the voiceless bidental fricative, on balance) /l r/ /i iˁ u uˁ/ /...

I feel like I'm slightly bored now that my 'langs are "established". There's still syntactic and word-creation work to be done, but the "fun" part of the broad grammar etc is done. I guess I should just try to find something to translate that doesn't require for me to make every...

I have recently-ish discovered the symphonic (gothic?) metal bands Sirenia and Xandria. Not a huge fan of everything (too much Floaty Sad Soprano, not enough action), but they have some nice songs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agXjA9t_DQ0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eowjZeOzzg https://www.yo...

Re: Consonant Clusters
Personally, I think this could just be aesthetics. I tend to make languages that have rather Finnic restrictions – no initial consonant clusters, no final consonants on root words, CVCCV maximal roots, no voicing distinctions, etc. Lots of others here go for more consonanty stuff with biconsonant in...

phonology This is for my conlang that will be written in Emojis. Is it naturalistic? Is it balanced? Are there too many vowels? You have eø and ɪʏ the wrong way around, for one. The contrast between /æ/ and /a/ is not very naturalistic. I suggest merging them into /æ/, adding a /ɯ̽/ to pair with th...
