What about the various places in NZ with Whaka-? The wh is pronounced as a bilabial fricative in Maori.

I think they meant the New York-y accent. I don't know if people actually talk like that, but TV and film says they do...American Northerners? As an Ohioan, I have never heard anyone say "cwoffee".

The person who created Japanese created two scripts, then decided they would use the one mainly for grammatical inflection and the other mainly for foreign words.
