Re: Kaita
It's very weird revisiting this thread all these years later and seeing how much I've come along as both a conlanger and as a linguist (what quaint things I used to think was interesting morphology!). I'm particularly intrigued by the random phonology in the middle of this thread for some reason, pe...

Re: Non-decimal number systems in conlangs
Asta is base-5. I don't really have more to say on that other than that they have numerals for 1-5, 25 and 125, the last of which can also be used with a kind of 'myriad'-like sense of just 'a large number'. Reduplicate the last root and you get 1252, which can likewise mean 'very numerous'.

Re: The great Asta thread - not soon enough
I back guys! Time for some more patch-notes. I've made another minor alteration to the set of permissible clusters, but one with broader ramifications. It seemed odd that I already had nx→ŋ but I still permitted ns , so I've chucked that out. However, this has left me with a little bit of a dilemma ...

Re: Which conlangs are you working on and/or still plan to work on?
I'm still working on Frislandic (note the change of adjective), but it's undergone yet another revamp since I last was active here. You can find some samples here and also some descriptions on my new Tumblr , and is kinda my 'main' lang atm. Other than that, I haven't done much of anything on Asta i...

Hi friends, I haven't been around for a while, but just to say I'm gonna try doing Lexember this year on my (new) Tumblr, first post is here. Expect some morphological juiciness now I'm at SMG.

Re: The great Asta thread - not soon enough
Updates! First, some "patch notes" for what's changed about the language since I last posted. The number of adverbial suffixes has been stripped down, with most being expressed by other means (a couple of which will be discussed below). The following suffixes remain: -pan 'distributive'; -...

I should have posted this earlier but progress on the relay looks like it's stopped from this thread but I passed on my relay torch a couple of days ago.

Re: The great Asta thread - not soon enough
Right, time to discuss stress more fully. When I last mentioned stress, in a passing comment in the first post, I said this: Stress is basically word-initial. Some speakers show shift to the post-initial in cases when the initial has a schwa and the post-initial a non-schwa vowel, but this isn't uni...
