How about were-humans? Humans that just turn into another human during the full moon.

Re: A small thought regarding werewolves: Sherlock Holmes as The Terminator

What about... Were-Thylacines ? Kankonian actually has a word for werethylacine: abighoyo . Werethylacine mythology comes from Didzhakanga, an island on Kankonia known for its marsupials, and abighoyo I believe is a Didzhakangan word. My dictionary spreadsheet file says it was Kankonian word #44,16...

In Kankonian, I'd say it's vruis. This word refers to lint stuck in your urethral opening.

Re: Some Effects of First Contact on the English Language

Furthermore, some anti-human slurs find their way into English. Caudally challenged sweat factory is a particularly colorful one. That's a wonderful insult ─ it looks like it's straight out of Calvin and Hobbes ! It does seem too long to be a regular-use slur, though. Yeah -- more like a "chee...

Re: Some Effects of First Contact on the English Language

Here are a few subtle changes that First Contact has on the English Language: The words "person" and "people" no longer refer only to humans, but to humans or yinrih. The term "misanthropy" and related words shift meaning to refer to anti-human prejudice rather than mi...

Has anyone ever made a lesson/guide for Xavante? That'd be useful for getting into the mindset of a realistic OSV conlang.

Re: Space Cat Theology

Lamprian (Bright Way) doctrine combines tenents of pantheism and animism. They believe Starmaker willed the universe into existence and is the same as it at the same time both creating and transforming into a cosmic womb (star-womb) from which they brought forth the stars. They believe everything h...

Well, it finally happened. and one night it did. [:D] You know what this means? that you're immensely creative, yes. That and that Kankonian now has more words that Classical Yiklamu, but thank you -- thank you, indeed. When you have a fictional language spoken on a fictional planet, by a spacefari...

TIL that the candytuft did not get its name from a visual resemblance to sweets. Rather, it was named after Candy, the older name for Crete.

Even if only for a moment as I dash between worlds, I would always stop to toss a coin to a person who has achieved something momentous. [:D] Momentous indeed! Does this prove anything? I would say the surpassment of Classical Yiklamu by Kankonian shows that imagination wins out over programming gr...

Well, it finally happened. At 6:44 p.m. Pacific Coast Time on May 8, 2024, Kankonian acquired its 91,592 nd word: Nizap , meaning Delta Cancri. I'll just say it comes from a language of a people who live close to Delta Cancri. You know what this means? It means Kankonian now has MORE words than Clas...

I will say that, for Lexember, I kind of "push" myself to come up with a number of different senses/meanings for each word, because I feel like, if I'm going to go to the trouble of making a post, I want it to feel worth my time, so to speak, and I feel like I'm somehow being more "p...
