Re: The Most Average Conlang Ever, NP: Qmachah!
It's only average with respect to WALS which gives me a lot of leeway. Yeah...that's probably less interesting to me. The wide birth you have means that essentially you can make whatever kind of conlang you fancy and that means it is less "average" than it is whatever you want it to be ba...

If I'm being honest, I can't really speak Māori either.

I'm in cautiously with Qmachah - cautiously in that its vocab will need a big boost before it's usable.

Care to be more specific? You like the idea but not the language itself, or you like the grammar but not the aesthetic and the word forms, or what? The aesthetic doesn't *feel* average to me...more Slavic, or Turkic, and the vowels don't look "common" by any measure. That being said, you'...

I'm sure this is possible, and I thought there was an example amongst the Formosan languages, although now that I check they all seem to have /s/. Still, Turkmen is pretty close to what you're looking for.Ear of the Sphinx wrote:I meant a language with only one coronal fricative, which is palatalized by default.

Conceptually, I like it...practically, I do not. I do admire the work you're doing, though. Kudos. Care to be more specific? You like the idea but not the language itself, or you like the grammar but not the aesthetic and the word forms, or what? I'm always open to advice. If you don't mind my aski...

Re: The Most Average Conlang Ever, NP: Qmachah!
So I just completed the torch for the List relay, and after taking a small break, I have found that I actually quite like this language. I was thinking I might have to do another revamp, but it's actually come along really nicely. I thought it was about time for another post, so I'll go through and ...

I still don't understand why the voting system needs to be changed, and I'm not completely sure I understand these other voting systems themselves… at least, most people still voted in a way that I can't figure out how to tally in either of the proposed ways. I tried, I really did. I've been stress...

Re: Indo-European diachronic collablang
A question like this might be easier with and Alternative voting system. I'm afraid I don't know what you mean. Sorry that should read "an Alternative Vote system ". Basically the options are ranked so as to be more representative. It's a bit harder to count the votes and also isn't at al...
