Re: Yay or Nay?
Shall I romanize /ʔ/ as <h> or <j> or <'>? I am not too fond of the apostrophe because it makes me feel like it isn't as much a letter as the other sounds that get a full Latin glyph... But I also have /h/ in the language, so while the glottal stop could be <h> and the /h/ <j> (similar to Spanish) ...

Re: Yay or Nay?
Now the question is, how will I romanize my uvular nasal? Currently I have < Ṉ ṉ>, but underline is generally used for fricatives, and I don't like the look of a caron on an <n>. Unanimously, dark L will be like the other dark letters. Since you don't have a velar nasal, might I suggest <Ŋ ŋ> /ɴ/? ...

Re: Yay or Nay?
Proto-Takolan has phonemic stress that can be on any syllable in a word, syllabic consonants, and a glottal stop. How should I romanize all of this? Here are two ideas I had. The origional (left) has under dots for syllabic consonants, acute accents for stress, and <'> for /ʔ/. The other one has ac...

Re: Yay or Nay?
Is this at least a vaguely possible consonant inventory? m n ŋ p b t̪ d̪ c k g t͡s s ç ʋ (ɺ) <--- this thing is finicky, never mind it After: [ʃ] --> [ɕ] --> [ç] [tʃ] --> [tɕ] (?? --> [cç] ??) --> [c] (leaving /c/ as the only stop without a voiced counterpart) I'd say yes.

Re: Yay or Nay?
My latest idea for TLFKAT: The glottal stop will be fully incorporated into the phonology finally, with the following allophony rule: When immediately preceding a resonant /s n l ɬ ʂ ɻ/, the glottal stop is realised as pharyngeal constriction, i.e. as [ħ~ʕ], and unlike after other stops, the fricat...

Really? Without using <v> for something else? You learn something new every day, I guess.
Anyway, I would still recommend <f v>, but the choice is, naturally, up to you.

/g ð z/ are pretty common phonemes to be missing from what would otherwise be a symmetrical system. Examples? I'm sure you're right, but I can't think of any off the top of my head. I'm thinking about reworking some of my conlangs. I already started working on Taahu, and Aven hasn't really gone too...

My phonology is probably gonna be: /ɛ i æ u ɒ b d t p k f v ʒ s ʃ j w l r θ/ and diphthongs: /oʊ/ /aʊ/ /eɪ/ I arranged it like this so I could visualize it better. You don't have to do it like this. /i ɛ æ /u ɒ/ /eɪ/ /aʊ/ /oʊ/ /p b t d k/ /f v θ s ʃ ʒ/ /j w/ /r/ /l/ How do you explain the absence o...
