Re: What did you accomplish today?

Welcome back! Have Orderlang and your other conlangs gathered so much dust as to be completely unsalvageable? Thanks! [:D] I think it's entirely possible some of my old conlangs could be salvaged. One I stumbled into was the tree-based one which I thought was pretty cool. I may return to them at so...

Re: Something new

In the last sentence of phonotactics, Im not sure what you mean. Did you leave something out? Also. Can /ng/ be a cluster? Oops. The wording was still from when I was writing it out and had a change of plans. I've edited the post so it actually makes sense now. I'm not 100% certain exactly what you...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

Today, I re-emerged from the void. Aszev very kindly recovered this account for me as it had all but been lost to time. Spent some time lurking and having a massive nostalgia trip seeing all the usernames I recognised, and this evening I laid out a phonology and some phonotactics for the first bit o...

Something new

So I've just had one massive nostalgia trip scrolling through these forums and recognising so many usernames and avatars from all (both) those years ago when I used to be active here. But I'm back now, and hopefully I'll get back into conlanging because I'm in desperate need of something new to inve...

Re: The CBB Conlang Census

You don't have Orderlang in this thread, OTheB? To be completely honest, I considered removing Inyi and Dijo considering they're both dead projects and are non-functional from lack of vocabulary. [:'(] Well, at least your Orderlang is the most OTheB-esque conlang on this board. It deserves to be li...

Re: The CBB Conlang Census

vodlem (2018) - isolating/agglutinative a priori, OSV order with Active morphosyntactic alignment. The language accompanies the people of invod - a limbo-esque realm that's the setting for a DnD campaign I am writing. The language is spoken by all inhabitants and so the players/adventurers will nee...

Thanks! I've been doing a bit on the world more recently, so I think this evening's plan is to start up that thread, then I'll come back to here with some diagrams and some new words. I'll be able to start translation challenges in no time! I'm actually pretty excited as I haven't really been able t...

I haven't touched the CBB in too long (I've been somewhat less dead on the Discord server though). I'm working on a DnD campaign that I'll be going through with a group of friends, so there'll likely be a corresponding thread in the world-building side where I go through that side of this all at som...

Re: Re:

Did this language have a shift of /ji/ > /i/, and /wu/ > /u/, at some point in its history, or did those combinations never arise? Absolutely no idea. I'm not making the language with any history in mind. It's completely a priori, and it'll be more on the personal/engineered language side than the ...

Re: Let's see how this one goes...

@OTheB: Nice script, I see what you mean about it being slightly Japanese. Can I ask what program you use to make it? I made it with Inkscape and FontForge. The glyph editor in FF isn't very nice to use, but you can copy and paste stuff in directly from inkscape. I made each symbol by drawing the p...

Re:

I notice your script lacks glyps for /ji/ and /wu/. Is this because the language cannot have /ji/ and /wu/ phonetically? if so you may want to reconsider the contrast between /ti/ vs /tsi/ vs /tši/, /si/ vs /ši/, etc ... as I believe that Japanese lost its /ji/~/i/ contrast by the same process that...

Re: Let's see how this one goes...

Writing system time! I'm pretty proud of this one. It's a syllabary, looks concerningly Japanese, but not too similar. It was made by first looking at some other scripts and picking out the more prominent shapes (most of the shapes are from katakana, hence the similar look), then assigning a shape t...

Re: Let's see how this one goes...

The lexicon has always been the downfall of my conlangs (I've recently reached the grand total of around 300 words in Qutrussan which is a first) so I'm with you on that. Nice templates always help as well. Also looking forward to seeing the writing system! 300?! My record is about 28, with a close...

Re: Let's see how this one goes...

Phonology things first, and I'll do the bit on the writing system next. I tried to be fairly symmetrical with this, but throw in the odd extra sound to make the phonology a bit bigger and more interesting. / p b t d k g / < p b t d k g > / m n ŋ / < m n ng > / f v s z ʃ ʒ h / < f v s z sh zh h > / w...

Let's see how this one goes...

Aight, time for another attempt at a conlang. Something new this time. This thread won't be organised at first and I'll just throw notes and ideas down here to begin with. Once I get something concrete, I'll make a more nicely formatted post on it and add it to a contents thingy below or something. ...

Re: Con-Script Development Centre

You can make a syllabary very easy to type with opentype rules and things. You'd add it as a features file to the font, and put all your substitutions in there, so you'd type "twonk", but when you hit the k at the end, the text turns into your whole syllable character. Well, what you'd mor...

Ok, time for some proper grammatical content: Here is the first draft set of noun classes to use in the language, all marked with a branch direction (U/D/L/R): Location Apudessive "beside" (R) Inessive "inside" (U) Intrative "between" (literally between the two nouns) L...

Are these trees correct? https://abload.de/img/tree16zsor.png https://abload.de/img/tree2b7seo.png https://abload.de/img/tree3o5s7e.png Almost On the first one, my ASCII attempt put "quick-brown" in there so it was easier to see, but I'd've made it a 3-way split of "quick", &quo...
