Was just considering at work today how different cultures find different things funny. Europeans tend to find jokes about sex, stupidity, and plays on words funny, for instance.
I'm interested to know what your Concultures consider funny. (:

I believe those categories are pretty universal. Chinese are far more into puns than European cultures (or at least moreso than my own Anglo-American culture). Of course, massive homophony makes for a huge number of possible puns.

More interesting I think is the structure of a joke. In the US, explaining a punchline is groaned at, and is considered bad for the joke. In China, sometimes explaining a punchline garners more laughter.

I like the thread, but I have nothing else to say about it yet.

Chilean humor is a lot cheekier than American humor. Also more machismo.

So this is considered an appropriate kids comic:

Have you ever watched the early episodes of Ну, погоди!, a slapstick humor Soviet cartoon for young kids?
No? Chile is softcore
P.S. perverts, not sex, but the sheer flavour of the content.

I haven't watched those since the year 2000, I don't remember quite what happens...
Way to remember the things I grew up with.

A lot of Kron humor deals with making fun of others in misfortune and war.

There's a reason they have a word, "Foskogai", which means "The feeling you get when your Mecha malfunctions and you realize your opponent is about shoot 64 Homing Lock-On missles at you".

I feel that translated into English, this would likely be "Oh, bollocks..." :p

The Kron also have a word, Teruioagsa, which means "The feeling you get when you laugh at someone for being in misfortune....and then have something bad happen to you"

As might be seen in a Kron chatroom:

Pluto3: Man today sucks
Ak-48: What happened bro?
Pluto3: I laughed at some chick in my class for lighting herself on fire in Shop
Pluto3: Then I went home and got myself lit on fire with my flamethrower
Ak-48: Ah, that's some serious Teruioagsa
Pluto3: It's not funny I'm in the hospital for this shit

[2 Day Later]

Ak-48: SHIT BRO
Ak-48: IM IN THE HOSPITAL
Pluto3: WTF did you do?
Ak-48: I CUT MY LEG OFF WITH A LASER SAW
Ak-48: OH FUCK IT HURTS
Pluto3: Haha, that's some serious Teruiogsa right there
Ak-48: SHUT THE FUCK UP FAGGOT
Ak-48: IT'S NOT FUNNY

Do the Kron have any end-of-the-world myths? Like everyone dying from Teruioagsa? Because that is one vicious cycle you have there.

One major aspect of my (unnamed) conworld's humor is trickery; basically, making someone look stupid.

In a nyaatama, you offer someone something. When they reach for it, you go to give them the item. You delay right before actually giving it away, and then immediately smack their hand out of the air. You declare that they "have soft hands" ("Nimiisi na nyaa tama!") to which they reply "Yes, I do." ("Aio aio.") If they catch on during the delay and move, they say the same to you, and you must reply.
The point here is that whoever else is around now knows that you/they 'have soft hands', and can be mocked mercilessly for the rest of the day.

There are many phrases, all of them very nonsensical;
(Nimiisi na) chaica kii. "You have a bright fire."
...kimi kimi. "...a tall tree."
...yuku kuru. "...a robust crop."

And that's the only thing I can remember ATM.
