I thought of that, too.
I guess each DoS (direction of speech) would have a single element, like consonants vs. vowels, and it would REQUIRE you to talk in at least two DoSes at the same time.

Caesar could dictate five letters at the same time, so that's not that amazing.

That has to be apocryphal, given he only had one mouth. And round-robin dictating one sentence at a time would be quite useless. Maybe he did it once as a parlor trick. Or maybe someone else did it as a trick and it got misattributed.

No, I meant absence of given sound. Then / / is coarticulation of every possible sound.

Hm... there was a Star Trek novel that did something like this, I believe. Called "Probe" or somesuch. The aliens were whalelike and communicated in songs that contained multiple layers of meaning. Needless to say, they got very frustrated with the simple humans and their ability to only process one stream of information at a time... I don't know if you're a fan, but even if you're not it might be worth checking into.
