Was this done because of arilando?

His denial of the existence of voiceless vowels in the Voiceless Vowels [Split Topic] thread being the latest instance of what he did is what.

What... purpose did the beginner's mentors program have, anyway?

Scissored from the old announcement:

Quote:
The Mentors are tasked with helping beginners, both in forums and through PM. Thus, if you want to ask something but don't want to make a thread about it, or if it's just concerning details of your conlang, or some feedback, you should feel free to PM one of the Mentors and ask about it.

But the Beginners' Corner forum covered this pretty well anyway, which is why the mentors are now gone [:)]

I got one when checking out the Christianity & Xenophobia thread. I noticed it was locked, so I figured it had to be interesting. But when I clicked on the last post, there was only an SQL message. Then I checked on page 1 of the thread, and saw xBlackWolfx's first post with a "Banned" by her name, and figured out what had happened.

Eventually, I was able to read through the whole thread, including page 4. But I wasn't at first.

Is there some sort of way to make the word "conlang" recognized by the board? (My apologies if it's due to my browser or something.)

That's certainly the vibe I got from xBlackWolfx. I subconsciously attached that gender to her as soon as I met her.

Probably the biggest reason I thought xBlackWolfx was female was her non-use of capital letters. On other boards I've been to, many teen-age girls post in all lower-case. Many also use "u r" instead of "you are" or "2" in place of "to" or "too". The boys use proper capitalization. (Of those, most people on the CBB, regardless of gender, capitalize the first letters of words that should be capitalized.)

Another thing that tipped me off was the x before her name and the x after her name. When you see a screenname like xxxJenniferxxx it's usually a girl. Or if you see something like ^~-xx^Jennifer^xx-~^. And can't forget those multicolored fonts (which as far as I remember, xBlackWolfx never used).

Strange, because I felt its language usage was distinctly masculine.

Yes, I thought he/she was a fella'. Mostly because of some of the reasons he/she was making a certain language.

The "In anderen Sprachen · Dans d'autres langues · En otras lenguas" could be written in the-other-languages that are normally used there.

Good idea!

Edit: If anyone can give me a proper Chinese translation of the title that'd be great!
