New CBB

Um. I'm not sure I understand the question. But this isn't some sort of auxiliary board for people to fall back to if the ZBB for some reason becomes unavailable, if that's what you're asking. Certainly, a lot of our members are also active there - no big surprise considering the rather similar focus - but there's no requirement that in order to become a member here you must have "moved" from the ZBB. This is a distinct board.

(Also, my understanding is that the ZBB is rather more popular than the CBB is, if you're keeping that kind of score. I for one kind of enjoy having a somewhat smaller community, though.)

I've been a member of the CBB since 2007 or so, and I have never registered for the ZBB.

I joined the CBB as soon as I knew I could; long before I left the ZBB.
I left the ZBB because, after Zompist rescinded his ban on Salmoneus, he gave him "moderator" privileges; meaning I couldn't "declare him a foe" and never have to see anything he wrote.
Salmoneus joined CBB because Zompist banned him from the ZBB. I don't know why he stays; I've never been curious.
But he has no moderator privileges on CBB, so I can and have "foed" him.

I guess I prefer CBB in part because the community of board-members is notably nicer; and particularly because the moderators are both nicer and more conscientious.

The Zbb and the Cbb are, similar names aside, two entirely separate forums. There's never been any split between them or a move from either of them to the other.

Also, you might notice this forum was founded in 2005, so making assumptions about the two forums based on present day status might be a bit rash to boot.

Um. What was the purpose of posting this? AFAICT, this has no relevance to the actual discussion here, and declarations of obsessive hatred towards other board members don't exactly help with maintaining a nice atmosphere.

The ZBB was down about a year ago due to what was apparently multiple issues; several people from there came over here to discuss stuff back then (if you're really curious, there's also this post from the time on Zomp's blog - although it quite understandably glosses over the more personal issues). I'm not sure if the details are really any of our business, though, especially at this point anymore.

Mm, yeah, you don't need to feel obliged to answer every single question that gets asked on this board. Also, "I left the ZBB due to some personal reasons" would've been an entirely sufficient answer here.


Well, leaving the board because you can't block someone's messages (as opposed to, say, just not reading them ) - and then much later using an at best tangentially related discussion on another board as an excuse to bring the whole thing up - kind of creates that impression. But whatever, that's really not the issue here.


Indeed, you shouldn't. That's the thing, though: IMO, you shouldn't have brought the issue up in a public post in the first place.


My suggestion would be to think twice before washing your dirty laundy in public in the future: does this issue really have enough general relevance that everyone needs to know about it?

lol Torco, I can't fully picture Zomp banning Sal either.

I became a member of ZBB first because I didn't know the CBB even existed. :D But when I found the CBB I joined to see if there was a difference. I've decided I like the CBB more, partially because of the layout, partially because I feel more comfortable, and partially because I feel more tolerated over here. Mostly, it's because people on the CBB generally seem more friendly, even if they ARE from the ZBB, they seem friendlier over here. Could just be me, but I haven't logged onto the ZBB since joining the CBB, but I do check out Zompist.com still because it has a lot of cool information. :P Thank you all!
