Language practice thread
Re: Language practice thread
I've heard there were flurries in Shanghai this morning.
Could it be there were also some in Suzhou? I missed it.

Moi, kaikki!
Hi, everyone!
Olen tosi iloinen, koska voin nyt puhua vähän suomea!

I'm glad you can speak a little Finnish.
What do you like to say in Finnish?

Re: Language practice thread
Merci!
Thank you! More often than not, I like to say the same things in Finnish that I like to say in French, if I can.

Oh okay, so bizarre chants composed thousands of years ago by the insane priests of a forgotten, eldritch religion.
Comme d'hab.
The usual.

You're talking about French, right?
El frances es demoníaco. El finlandes es loco. Totalmente diferente
French is demonic. Finnish is crazy. Totally different

hello, does anyone [here] drink tea? like tea a lot.
if you drink tea also, what are your favorite teas?
my favourite teas are Assam Banaspaty (a black tea), and Tie Guan Yin (a/n oolong/wulong tea).

I don't really like the taste of tea. When I tell some people that, they act like I've blasphemed. Thankfully for me, tea isn't as popular in the US as it is in some other countries.

I really like tea but I'm not sure what my favorite ones are called.
I like fruity tea but Eastern tea is very good too.
I'm not a big fan of those from England though. They need more flavor.

Bottomline is chá has an acute and que doesn't really work in that sentence. I'm brazilian, which i guess is good since you seem to be going for Brazilian Portuguese.kinkinkijkin wrote:ola, alguém bebe chá? gosto muito de chá.

As for me it's white tea, but i drink mate tea and black tea a lot too.

my keyboard doesn't have a dead key for that diacritic so I leave it out (intentionally), thanks for the help grammatically though
desejo beber jerba, é aperemente delicioso.
wish to drink mate, [it] is apparently delicious.
cha branco é também delicioso. cha é delicioso...
white tea is also delicious. tea is delicious...
Re: Language practice thread
First, "jerba" doesn't exist. If you wanted the cognate to sp 'hierba' that's 'erva'. Also you don't want to use erva in that sentence, unless of course you're talking about weed, which I reckon you're not. You want "mate" there. And apparently = aparentemente.kinkinkijkin wrote:loglorn wrote:Bottomline is chá has an acute and que doesn't really work in that sentence.

I don't like tea, at least the teas I've tried. They're either too sweet or too bitter.
Un jour quand j'étais à Starbucks, on m'a offert un échantillon gratuit d'un thé aromatisé.
Once when I was at Starbucks, they offered me a free sample of a flavored tea.
The flavoring was so strong that the tea no longer tasted like tea. And I liked it.

I missed a couple syllables... also, the articles I had read on mate had said that it was referred to by the first word of its full name (yerba maté) in the countries of south america that consumed it, so I wrote it as the articles said it was in portuguese, though they might've mixed up portuguese and spanish
Re: Language practice thread
Definitely. Yerba maté is definitely spanish and shortening it for the first word is definitely spanish too.kinkinkijkin wrote:loglorn wrote:First, "jerba" doesn't exist. In Portuguese, 'mate' or 'chá mate' refers to what wikipedia calls mate cocido, while what seems to be just mate in English is 'chimarrão'. There is also tererê which is basically mate made with cold instead of hot water.
