Well, they give the birthyears as follows:

Lost Generation: 1883-1900
G.I. Generation: 1901-1924
Silent Generation: 1925-1942
Baby Boom: 1943-1960
Generation X: 1961-1981
Millennial Generation: 1982-2004

So the intent of "January 1, 1943 to December 31, 1960" is clear in the article.
