Hi,
I wonder if anybody could help check my IPA renderings for my artlang's vowel/diphthong system. I'm fine with my consonants, but have a bit of a tin ear when it comes to vowels. Now, I know that using "like such and such in such and such" isn't a very robust way of describing sounds, but it might help to get the ball-park noises across. There's nothing particularly adventurous about the sounds chosen for my artlang - such that a speaker of 'standard' BBC English would have no trouble making or distinguishing them. r, w and y, by the way, are vowel modifiers in the alphabet, not consonants, and r is more of a lengthening symbol than a sign of rhoticity (which is avoided).
Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated!

Re: Help with IPA for my vowels
I've found this wikipedia page to be quite helpful for hammering down various things in IPA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internati ... h_dialects
This one, too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/English
Also, this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_phonology
And then the individual Wikipedia pages for vowels sometimes provide useful examples.

Seems fine.

It is actually hard for me to say because I am not deeply familiar with BBC pronunciation. You may do well to compare it to received pronunciation:

There is a table with triphthongs you may find especially interesting.
I am interested in what you're producing, conlang-wise.

Re: Help with IPA for my vowels
Thanks for those links, Axiem - very useful. It seems I was mostly right, so my tin ear may be improving.
Nachtuil - I think BBC English is the same as RP, give or take. I'll be posting more details about the conlang when I feel the'yre presentable. It's about 75% fleshed-out, but needs refining, a proper write-up, and a vocab expansion.
