Lexicon sculpting [2013–2019]

Post by Prinsessa »

I slightly brainfroze and misinterpreted the point of the reverse lexicon building thread for a moment, but it gave me an idea.

In this thread we suggest words, and somebody who likes it may adjust it to the phonology of their language - or adjust the phonology to the word, if they like it that much, I suppose - and bring it into their lexicon along with the sense that was given, then showcasing the final pronunciation and spelling and whatever of the word after taking it, and any slight adjustments that perhaps had to be made to the sense.

One may also suggest word classes rather than senses.

Example:
Person A wrote:/taksa/ - 'feather'
Person B wrote:
Person A wrote:/taksa/ - 'feather'
Szinnastesian: /tʰaxsa/ - 'feather'

Next: /buhn/ - a verb
I'll begin, naturally:

/ɸuːstroð/ - 'horizon'

Edit: Continued in this thread. -Aevas, 2020-05-07

Neat idea, Sko. This should be called lexicon sculpting, tho.
/ɸuːstroð/ - 'horizon'
Inchoatian /pau:sθrow/- 'yonder'

Next: /z_na1s/- a particle

Yeah, I found my original title would easily be taken as "build my (Sko's) lexicon" rather than a game like this. 'Lexicon sculpting' it is.

Heh. In Hungarian 'kap' is 'to get'.

PVK **kw·p
PVK SIMPLE **kw·p- → *kəwpə 'to reach (successfully); to get a grip on; to catch'
PVK PROG/FREQ **h-kw·p- → *(h)əkupə 'to reach for; to try to get ahold of; to fish for'

/zmirbi/ - 'ring'

Oh, nice interpretation, haha. I meant a circle.

I meant grammatical particle, but what the hay. Thy pronunciation is correct, btw.

Also, Sko, capitalize both titles. It's just unesthetic. No offense.

I've never understood that convention. English is weird. At least German does its capitalisation thing on a consistent basis in all texts and always on the same words.
