Re: Anglo-Romance Language Collab
31) Should /ɲ tʃ ʃ ʎ/ change in terms of orthography? In Early Old Brettaneis, they were written as <nȝ cȝ scȝ lȝ> respectively.
The palatal consonants /ɲ tʃ ʃ ʎ/ will now be written as <nj cj sj lj>. Also, here is the updated orthography for convenience.
/p b t d k g/ - p b t d c g
/m n ɲ/ - m n nj
/ts dz tʃ/ - ċ ġ cj
/f v s ʃ h/ - f v s sj h
/r l ʎ j/ - r l lj j
/i u e o ɛ ɔ a/ - i u e o è ò a
/iu eo ɛɔ ea~æa/ - iu eo èò ea
/k g ts dz/ are <qu gu c g> before front vowels. Before back vowels, <qu gu> are /kw gw/.
-
32) What should happen to /ɛ ɔ ɛɔ/?
a) /ɛ ɔ ɛɔ/ > /æ a ea/
b) /ɛ ɔ ɛɔ/ > /e o eo/

32) /ɛ ɔ ɛɔ/ > /ɛ ɔ æ/ We don't need a whole lotta change here. Especially if we want it to be englishy.

So, assuming /k g/ are spelled <c g> before back vowels and <qu gu> before front vowels, how are <c g> pronounced before front vowels, and how are <qu gu> pronounced before back vowels?gokupwned5 wrote:/p b t d k g/ - p b t d c/qu g/gu

<c g> are pronounced as /ts dz/ before front vowels and <qu gu> are pronounced as /kw gw/ before back vowels. I updated the orthography to make it easier to understand. Sorry for any confusion!

Would anyone like to take over this thread? My schedule has become busier and I do not think I will be able to continue this.

You should ask someone from the subreddit. That would be goodgokupwned5 wrote:Would anyone like to take over this thread? My schedule has become busier and I do not think I will be able to continue this.

Ah, no worries! Thanks for clearing things up!gokupwned5 wrote:<c g> are pronounced as /ts dz/ before front vowels and <qu gu> are pronounced as /kw gw/ before back vowels. I updated the orthography to make it easier to understand. Sorry for any confusion!
Hmm, I don't want to see this end, but I took over a collablang thread before for what was supposed to just be a month, and I've been running it since the summer of 2015. Do you think you'll be able to take back control of the thread at some point, or has your schedule changed for the foreseeable future?gokupwned5 wrote:Would anyone like to take over this thread? Why would that be good? Shouldn't we at least see if anyone on the board itself would be interested first?Cavaliers327 wrote:You should ask someone from the subreddit. For the foreseeable future. I can do it gokupwned5. I found this to be the most intriguing and the most fun out of all the collablangs.

Whoops, completely missed this until just now. If you don't have any objections, I'd say that Cavaliers327 is now "in charge" here, but if they ever want to pass the torch off to someone else, I'd definitely be interested in helping this thread stay alive.gokupwned5 wrote:For the foreseeable future. 33) The Danes have won and taken the eastern parts of our land. The Brettanais become vassals to Danes of East Anglia. Do borrow some words from our Viking overlords?
