Shuyngese

Post by Parlox »

This is the basis of a unnamed conlang i am making, most of this will probably change a lot.

n m͡ʎ p b t d c ɟ s ʃ ʂʷ ɸ β ɹ ʁ ɾ ʀ̥͡x ʀ͡ɣ ʙ͡x l ʎ ʎ̥ i ɯ e ɤ a ɑ y u ø o
n m p b t d c h s x ꭗh f v r ꭗ ꭗr ꭗx ꭗg qx j l l i u e y a o iø uø ø yø

I will make a better representation of the phonemes later

(C)(L)V(L)(C) syllable structure
Rounded vowels cannot appear with rounded consonants

Uses an ergative-absolutive alignment

Verbs can be conjugated by tense, case (I know this is not super accurate, but i do not think these are moods and i am not sure what to call them), and person, they also agree with the number of a noun,

Code: Select all

Singular
                         1stperson-sing 2ndperson-sing 3rdperson-sing
              Past -ma -ra -sa
            Future -mar -ran -san
 Future-participle -man -rar -sar
Present-participle -maj -ra -sas
   Past-participle -mas -rax -sax

Plural
                            1stperson-sing 2ndperson-sing 3rdperson-sing
              Past -mai -rai -sai
            Future -mari -rani -sani
 Future-participle -mani -rari -sari
Present-participle -maji -rai -sasi
   Past-participle -masi -raxi -saxi

Verbs can also be conjugated by some cases, although in addition to the above,

[code]Locative -pu
     Ablative -li
      Allative -la
A phrase that shows how this language might look

Ramh ꭗxu'pu'li cas'tu
i-ERG run-LOC-ABL wind-SPECIFIER
I run through the wind

The specifier is put on a noun, it acts as a definite article[/s]
Edit: This information isn't relevant anymore, i will post the new information soon

New information on phonology and orthography

/m n/ m n
/p t d ʈʲ ɖʲ k g/ p t d tj dj k g
/t͡ʃ t͡ʃʲ/ tx txj
/s z zʷ ʃʲ ʒʲ/ s z ʮ sh zh
/θ ð ɹ ʁ h/ th dh r x h
/ɾ/ v
/ʀ̥/ xh
/l ʎ ʎ̥/ l y ý

/i ɨ u/ i ǐ u
/e ɤ/ e o
/œ ɔ/ ě ǒ
/a/ a

I tried to make a weird looking orthography for this

(C)(C)V(C) syllable structure
The last consonant of a syllable can only include n m s z zʷ p t͡ʃ t͡ʃʲ θ ð ɹ ʁ or ʀ̥

I have changed everything, and renamed this project Shuyngese
Here is the phonology and orthography

/m n ŋ/ m n ng
/p t d k g ʔ/ p t d k g q
/t͡s/ ts
/t͡ʃ d͡ʒ/ th dh
/s z ʃ ʒ ʂ/ s z ş z̧ sh
/ɹ w h/ r ẘ h
/ʀ/ rr
/l/ l

/i u/ i w
/ʊ/ ẘ́
/ɤ/ o
/ɛ ɛi/ e y
/a/ a

Syllable structure is (C1)(C2)(V)(V2)(C3)
Only p t d k g ts t͡ʃ d͡ʒ ʃ ʒ ʂ h and w can appear in the C1 position, although /s/ can sometime appear as a initial consonant in a syllable,
Only t k w ʀ and l-ʎ can appear in the C2 position
Any vowel can appear in the V position
Only a ɛ and ɛi can appear in the V2 position
Only m n ŋ p ʔ s z ʃ ʒ ʀ and l-ʎ can appear in the C3 position

Verbs can be conjugated by tense, voice and mood, conjugating for mood is rare and not expected

Past
Passive ‘s
Causative ‘sy

Present
Passive ‘k
Causative ‘ky

Present-participle
Passive ‘p
Causative ‘py

Future
Passive ‘py
Causative ‘tẘ́

Realis ‘pẘ́
Irrealis ‘kẘ́
Deontic ‘thẘ́
Epistemic ‘hẘ́

Verbs tend to be somewhat simple, and nouns are sometimes used to further explain a situation

Nouns decline to number and agree with the transitivity or intransitivity of a sentence or phrase

Transitive-dual ‘po
Intransitive-dual ‘to

Transitive-plural ‘poa
Intransitive-plural ‘toa
