I know this isn't theme-related, but Lihmelinyan is still severely lacking in adpositions.

mēkyat /ˈmeːkjat/ (n.) moon, moonlight

Turns out we had a similar idea there, and your lang also appears to be ergative-absolutive [B)]

Lexember 5:

pnałas n
moonlight, full moon

Etymology:
pnało ("night)" + as ("day, sun, daylight") - basically "night sun"

For the moon itself, pnałusa is used rather.

Example sentence:

mara gú ù-máná mù, pnałas yel łómha sada à-núshán
good ADV INTR.INDEF.look TOP moonlight CLF ERG.thing other TR.DEF-'more than'[verbal]

NB: TOP only relates to topics of comparison and is not often used as a general topic marker; the verb "núshán", which is used for comparisons, comes from the noun for "large size" (and is only used for inanimates).

"In the discipline of looking good, moonlighty things surpass others" [:S] => "Everything looks better in moonlight" [:D]

  • Plurale tantum
Derivations and Related Terms:
Spoiler:

  • From Proto-Yaunite *mayn- "ice" + *-sul- "ADJZ" + *-iźi "INTR.GOV.SG"

minyubī /ˈminjubiː/ (n.) mountain, snow-capped mountain, peak, summit
  • From Proto-Yaunite *mayn- "ice" + *-yub- "house" + *-iźi "INTR.GOV.SG"
  • Due to the nature of the climate of the Yaunite homeland, snow and naturally occurring ice are primarily associated with tall mountains
mēngikkilə /ˈmeːngikkilə/ (n.) heretic, infidel, heathen
  • From Old Abil maîŋiˀkilə "icy one, cold one", from Proto-Yaunite *mayn- "ice" + *-iḳ- "person, demonym" + *-iźi "INTR.GOV.SG"
  • Originally in reference to the religion of the Abil, but increasingly used in a secular, academic sense: "uneducated person"
  • Colloquially, it is sometimes used as an insult, roughly equivalent to "dumbass, idiot"
Example:

Wō-mēngikkis, kēwi šu-minyubaman kiwayyin fiš-šuḥāman uršēdaman jiryasūjmi!
wō=mēngikk-is kēwi šu=minyub-aman kiwa-yyin fiš=šuḥa-aman uršēd-aman jiryas-ūj-mi

Wow, great minds think alike (although the language I've been using is only ergative in its case marking)! "moonlight" definitely fits with the theme, but my justification for including the derived words with meanings related to "darkness" was that "the absence of light" is still related to "light" in some way. I'm not able to participate regularly in Lexember this year but I realized I haven't coined any new Nakarian words in a long time, so let me pop in and out of this thread. I'll coin 7 words today to catch up:

1) nẹ́zu - "partition, sorting, act of being separated or divided"
2) ệnzẹ̉ - "separation, loss, division" (from the same root as the above)
3) Proto-Nakarian verbal root *qiʈ meaning "to experience pain, to hurt" - only has reflexes in compounds with incorporated nouns in modern Nakarian
4) nẹ̉kkû - "to long for something or someone, to miss something or someone" (transitive verb) (from the roots used in 1 and 3)
5) nẹzùȝȝû - "to feel lonely, divided or conflicted" (intrasitive verb) (from the same roots as above)
6) nẹ̉khuzòr - "strong longing or nostalgia" (nominalization of 5) - also the name of a Nakarian festival ("The Longing")
7) nẹ̉kkûnoo - "dissatisfaction, feeling of incompleteness or not being satiated" (another nominalization of 5)
