The highway blurred in front of them as the blistering heat floated from the asphalt. It was a hot 38 degrees here in little Grapevine, Texas. The hottest it’s ever been in decades. Travis Roland was driving some 1950s station wagon looking rather anxious as he was sipping a cup of coffee. Age and stress had worn him down into a wrinkled shadow of his former self. His interlocutor, Marcus, however, was brimming with youth and cool optimism. He was sitting beside him with his own cup of coffee. He looked at Travis calmly, “I’m glad we could meet today, Mr. Roland.” He paused, and then said, “By the look on your face, I can tell you know exactly what I’m here for.”
“I didn’t think anyone would believe me.” Travis said, “Like anyone else, I was a pretty scientific man. I didn’t believe in any ghosts or any of that supernatural stuff. I don’t know what I saw, but it was definitely a rude awakening.”
“Can you tell me everything that happened?” Marcus asked. “Everything?” Travis asked.
“Yes. Everything.” Marcus replied.

“It was the middle of July in the year of 1950. It was a hot day in the middle of a heat wave, much like today, but I didn’t care, I was happy. No, more than that; I was ecstatic. I was going to be a father. I rushed over from work this afternoon after I had gotten the call from Doctor Martin. I wasn’t even aware of the fact that she was pregnant, much less given birth to twins. I parked in the lot beside Baylor Hospital and approached the reception counter. Grace was up the stairs down the F hall. (unfinished)

I've completely reworked the font for Dijo's alphasyllabary. Instead of trying to cram everything into type-able characters and then trying to make a second font for numbers work with it, I'm using all manner of unicode characters. I'm arranging them neatly so the character code is almost like a sorting system for each symbol. for instance, all the codes beginning with 0 are for the component symbols (not numbers or punctuation or anything). Of those, the ones with a second digit of 1 are my plosives. Of those, the ones with a third digit of 1 is /p/, and the fourth digit is far the various shapes and positions for that component.
It's working wonderfully so far, and I can get everything into one font.

Dang, I think I've just reverted my conlang back to its original four-vowel system. I put /o/ back in because I love /o/, but that's not how I originally envisioned things. Will have to see if I want these changes to be permanent.

Sorry, but trying to create a perfect loop from planetary orbits is a fool's game :)
The original mp4 that I used to generate the gif doesn't loop, however. When I actually get this all up on a website, I'll be posting that instead (and realistically, probably extend out the time even farther)

Could you do a thing like that for my conplanet (and it's 3 moons) around the sun? I'd of course provide pertinent information.Axiem wrote:Sorry, but trying to create a perfect loop from planetary orbits is a fool's game :)

I don't much have the time (finding enough time to do this was a struggle), but I do plan on putting the source code I used for it up, and it uses a JSON file for its data, so it shouldn't be too difficult to adjust to your needs.Ahzoh wrote: Could you do a thing like that for my conplanet (and it's 3 moons) around the sun? (I know I mentioned this about my spreadsheet for calculating magnitudes &c, as well. I had to basically re-do that, hence the delay, but I plan on putting that up as well. Now, if you could magically get me a couple of days at home sans kids and spouse, I could work wonders...)

Although, Onschen is a language isolate, I have done some minor sound changes:
jug (noise) + o (create) > jugo > jogo (make noise)
jug (noise) + ẽ: (animate) > juŋẽ: > junẽ: (noise)
ovb (thing, object) + o > ovbo (create, make)
ovb + õ: (inanimate) > ovmõ: (object)
jug (noise) + o (create) > jugo > jogo (make noise)
jug (noise) + ẽ: (animate) > juŋẽ: > junẽ: (noise)
ovb (thing, object) + o > ovbo (create, make)
ovb + õ: (inanimate) > ovmõ: (object)

This page explains that "The Kala calendar is modeled after the Baha'i Calendar. This borrowing is based on mathematical symmetry, not religious or theological associations. The 26th of February through the 1st of March is called the semahua, or "flower-week". This period includes the 29th of February in leap years."
19*19 = 361 plus 4 or 5 (during leap years)
I just extended the use of the 19 totems to the "long count" for flavor.

Hooray for Epagomenal days! The 26th of February through the 1st of March is called the semahua, or "flower-week". This period includes the 29th of February in leap years."
Fie on Islamic prohibitions on intercalation.
No celebrations at all during this time in the Kala World, as with the Copts or the Baha'i?

Nor apotropaic solemnities, as in Ancient Egyptian times?

I wonder how the Kala Long Calendar might work for the Martian Year?

Once upon a time, there was a monk who glossed as many Old English words as possible. Today, this monk is called “Tremulous Hand of Worcester” and I, in turn, collect his Middle English entries and gloss them into German to learn more Southern Middle English.
History does run in circles, except that my handwriting is a cruel mess, but free of tremor.
