While not strictly being about linguistics or natlangs, I think this is the most relevant place to post this, as there is no section called "Typography and Art" (and neither do we need one, as I guess this section will do).

Anyway, I recently came across this project: http://betabet.me/

And as I said It's about typography; more specifically creating obscure ligatures (conligs?). They range from legible to illegible and from beautiful to awkward-looking. I thought it might spark some interest in this forum -- or am I the only typography geek here?

That "ng" one looks oddly like the IPA's Velar Nasal symbol...

How's that odd? the velar nasal symbol was basically made by creating a ligature in the first place.

Indeed. I even 'created' it myself before becoming familiar with IPA. (I may have mostly avoided the noobish conlanging stages, but conscripts are another matter!)

Yeah, handwriting doesn't seem to be a concern of theirs.

And I created something like "d" with the descender of "j". :-D
