No, what really struck me was the way people sharing their conlangs expressed the idiom the same way. Most of the people here are good enough conlangers that they wouldn't relex idioms from their native language to their conlang (taking their word for "by", their definite article, and their word for "way, path" as the prepositional obiect of "by" to translate "by the way", for example). Yet even for those conlangers who usually find a different way to put an idiom, they used the existential structure to translate the English "there are X, and then there are Y" idiom. I was expecting to find all sorts of creative ways to do this.

A question: Does anyone do it differently when the X and the Y are different and when the X and the Y are the same? Using one structure to translate "There are Christians, and then there are saints" and another to translate "There are idiots, and then there are idiots"?

Well, the first structure just sorta-kinda contrasts two things, while the second one isn't really a comparison at all. "There are Christians, and then there are saints" means "Christians and saints are different (but how they're different is something I'd rather imply than actually say)", while "There are idiots, and then there are idiots" (with extra stress on the second "idiots") means more like "Some people are just too stupid to exist!" Really presenting these kinds of things are more an artifact of English cultural norms (specifically how it is considered more polite to be indirect) than it is anything interesting about the construction itself. Unless the culture behind the language involved has similar preferences for indirectness there's really no way to translate the expression.

How clearly this is an idiom?
I don't know that in Finnish.

Of course it can be translated directly.

if this is an idiom we're trying to translate, it's not going to obtain.
Most folks are decoding word for word, but are they getting at the implied meaning.

I think Micamo's post gets closer to what's at stake. It also reminds me of what my old friend's mom, Mrs. Shapiro, used to say when she saw someone do something

When I was in Peru, the Peruvians I knew would have been more explicit, especially if they weren't in favor of Fujimori or Alan Garcia. They wouldn't have implied it, they would've said something like-

Hay presidentes, pero hay presidentes que no valen ¡ni un c*r*jo!

¡Importa el contexto y el subtexto!

Conversely, a language like Greek has these marvellous little particles that help
set up that kind of context. I refer to men...de .

As soon as an Ancient Greek hears the "μὲν" involved, (s)he knows there's going to be "but on the other hand...", "but here's the punchline...".

It's not as subtle as the intonational cue that Micamo describes, but it was clever enought for the Greeks, and the Romans liked it, so they calqued it (not as well)
with ita...vero... in Latin.

He committed suicide soon after learning that there was a group planning to assainiate him--in modern Pazmat, calling someone a "total Torv" is lang for calling them an excessively over-bearing control freak. In addition, the phrase "X just jumped like Torvbcla" is an idiom for when someone who acts all high and mighty and holier-than-thou quickly breaks down and reveals themselves to be a complete pussy when called out on their actions (referencing how Torvbcla killed himself by jumping from his palace)
