Re: Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs
A "little steppe worm-bear"? Something makes me want to ask if it's a member of the family Mustelidae?

Re: Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs
Might the critter be a polecat or a stoat?
I like my languages how I like my women: grammatically complex with various moods and tenses, a thin line between nouns and verbs, and dozens upon dozens of possible conjugations for every single verb.
Re: Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs
Going to have to be more specific than that but on the right trackInkcube-Revolver wrote:Might the critter be a polecat or a stoat?
Re: Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs
Either striped hyena (of the sahel) or wolverine (of the Canadjan steppes & tundra) or honey-badger/ratel (Velt-dweller)
the *wurmiz element is because like maggots (i.e. worms), they prefer eating carrion.
And I am unanimous in this (but prolly wrong).
Honorable mentions:
Giant Anteater?
Aardvark?
Pangolin?
Mongoose?
Andrewsarchus?
Borhyaena?
Hyaenodon?
Meerkat?
Some heretofore undiscovered savanna/alvar/prairie-dwelling Kinkajou ????
(man)Bearpig?
Repanamamus???
Beara Constrictor (damn u, internet! Where is your photoshop silliness when I need you. Fie, Internet, fie!) ??
Mongolian Devil Worm ?????
Therizinosaurus????????? (I think they lived in open forest, though)
Oh, I know, the marsupial mole!
has to be!
{Otherwise, this is quickly turning into a dinner-menu for the Tasmanian Devil}

Re: Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs
I just wanted you to know that the word would be *stappewjirmbearlyng in West Frisian.
And it's completely your fault.

Re: Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs
I change my guess.
It's the Subarctic Wooly Bear caterpillar
Absolutely has to be {the wrong choice}.
With big pointy teeth!

Re: Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs
Inkcube-Revolver is still the closest and oh so close
You came mighty close with Beara Constrictor and that caterpillar though Lambuzhao

Re: Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs
I'm surprised no one photoshopped an angry bear face onto a wooly bear caterpillar.
