Guess the Word in Romlangs
After qwed presented a word from a romlang in the Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs due to not having a Germanic lang readily available, I thought it would be a cool idea to have a counterpart to that thread for romlangs.
Like in the other thread, you can decide whether or not to provide IPA when you present a word to be guessed.
I don't have a romlang readily available, so here's a word I made up just for this game:
lourvoi
/ˈlou̯ɾvəj/

Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
Is it the nominative singular form of a noun?
Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
Does it have a post-cliticized element? (Is that element just the i?)

(Assuming you're referring to the Latin from which it was derived; the word itself is no longer marked for case, like in most Romance languages)

Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
Does the final -i derive from a decayed e?
If that's a no, is the language south of Remini-Spezzia

Like I said, this word was made up for this game and doesn't belong to a particular conlang, so I can't really speak for the whole language. However, looking at the differences between the two sides of the La Spezia-Rimini line, it doesn't look like the line is relevant to this particular word, at least in terms of plural formation and stop voicing/degemination.qwed117 wrote:If that's a no, is the language south of Remini-Spezzia

Yeah, sorry for any confusion. Is it derived from the accusative singular form of a noun?GrandPiano wrote: (Assuming you're referring to the Latin from which it was derived; the word itself is no longer marked for case, like in most Romance languages)

It is based on the accusative and is singular, yes.shimobaatar wrote:Is it derived from the accusative singular form of a noun?

Does 《ou》come solely from VL *ọ? If not, does it come from any combination of ọ and another element?
