Guess the Word in Romlangs
Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
Oh, vivisection!
That's scientific!

Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
Anyway, there's all kinds of dark things one can do periautopsally. I mean, obviously, there's necrophilia. That's dark.
Or theres, oh coo! Body snatching! Exterraraption!
Got to give the young medical students something to do on a Friday evening besides play billiards and sip cheap swill!

Either necrophilia or body snatching. And I guess "playing billiards"

Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
Necrophilia is more associated with the 18th and 19th centuries? Huh, the more you know… Anyway, good guess elemtilas!
Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
It's either necrophilia or bodysnatching. Whichever you associate more with the 18th and 19th centuriesshimobaatar wrote:Necrophilia is more associated with the 18th and 19th centuries? Huh, the more you know… Anyway, good guess elemtilas!

I believe it's elemtilas' turn, right? Would you like to pass?
Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
No, I don't think anyone answered the correct answer. I was just saying that it's either necrophilia, body snatching or "playing billiards", and that you had to guess it.

Oh, OK, I thought you meant that it meant all of those things (well, I assumed the billiards part was a joke).qwed117 wrote:No, I don't think anyone answered the correct answer. I was just saying that it's either necrophilia, body snatching or "playing billiards", and that you had to guess it.
Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
I'm happy to see that the other two guessing games are running again, but I'd love to see this one return as well. So if we have to only guess between these three words now (because that seems to be the problem here?), I'm just gonna guess it's necrophilia.

Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
I wasn't guessing because I don't have a Romlang to use in case I get it right. In the interest of keeping this thread alive, though, is it "billiards"?
Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
shimo wins. It was body snatching. Whoever wants to go can take it.shimobaatar wrote:I wasn't guessing because I don't have a Romlang to use in case I get it right. In the interest of keeping this thread alive, though, is it "billiards"?

Do you want to give it a go, ixals?
Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
Sure, I don't have a good word in my abondoned romlang either so here's a more simple one I'd say!

Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
Does /i̯/ come from a consonant?
Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
Depends on how you define "come from". It wasn't there in the beginning so I guess it had to come from somwhere. However, there was no /C/ > /i̯/ so I'll say for now?

Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs
"come from" as in "was there a consonant there in Latin"? I don't meant to sound rude, but what else did you think I could have meant? In any case, you answered the question I was asking.ixals wrote:Depends on how you define "come from". It wasn't there in the beginning so I guess it had to come from somwhere. Was /oi̯/ a diphthong in Latin?

It was clear what you meant. The you in "Depends on how you define ..." was supposed to be an impersonal you. I think I worded that one wrong, sorry!shimobaatar wrote:"come from" as in "was there a consonant there in Latin"? I don't meant to sound rude, but what else did you think I could have meant? No need to apologize. Misunderstandings happen.ixals wrote:It was clear what you meant. The you in "Depends on how you define ..." was supposed to be an impersonal you.
