Yes, two single-morpheme words in ModE, still analysable as a compound word like blackbird or something in PZ.

Were the onsets of each morpheme /dʒ/ and /b/ in ModE?

No. The nasal has assimilated to place in PZ; it was a different nasal in ModE.

To clarify, was this already a word/phrase in Modern English? Like, I know these two morphemes are valid words in Modern English, but is this combination of those words something we might say now in modern times? Hopefully this question makes sense.

Eeh, yes...
I mean, yes.
(Basically, the answer is yes, but with a tiny caveat: in the phrase in ModE,the first word is usually pluralised. I derived the PZ word from a version without the plural.)

the second morpheme come from ModE 'bowl'? If not, is the vowel in British English some *əʊ or *ɔʊl?
