(Parody) Christmas Carols

Post by Znex »

In the spirit of this Christmas season, I thought it might be fun for us to share and translate some of our Christmas carols, from our natlangs or conlangs. I don't just mean traditional Christmas carols, but also parodies of carols if you can find any. If the carol is a parody, please share the original carol in a link so we can share in the joke. No translations of anything specific other than some sort of a carol is necessary; feel free to share what you like. [:D]

Let me share some of my favourite English carol parodies below:

:eng: While shepherds washed their socks by night,
All seated in the tub,
The angel of the Lord came down,
And gave them a good scrub.

:aus: Dashing through the bush
In a rusty Holden Ute
Kicking up the dust
Esky in the boot
Kelpie by my side
Singing Christmas songs
It's Summer time and I am in
My singlet, shorts and thongs

Oh! Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells
Jingle all the way
Christmas in Australia
On a scorching summer's day
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells
Christmas time is beaut
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a rusty Holden Ute.
:eng: : [tick] | :grc: : [:|] | :chn: :isr: :wls: : [:S] | :deu: :ell: :rus: : [:x]
Conlangs: Hawntow, Yorkish, misc.

Here is part of a Christmas song translated to griuskant, instead of a carol or parody. Sing along: Wish I wish tonight

I will keep doing what I can do
I will keep wishing 'cause wishes come true
I'm dreaming our Christmas will turn out right
That's the wish I wish, tonight

:con: griuskant (romanised without conscript)

aesk kin oth skisa zhae kanenzhaeth
aesk kin oth zhaeska vezh zhaesk kin skeha
aesk roida zhaed fraeiyeh kin huirian noils
zhae az aeskae zhaesk, shaishuig

/'esk kin ɔθ 'skisa 'ʒe 'kanənʒeθ/
/'esk kin ɔθ 'ʒeska vəʒ 'ʒesk kin 'skəha/
/'esk 'rɔida ʒed 'freijəh kin 'huirian nɔils/
/'ʒe az 'eske 'ʒesk, 'ʃaiʃuig/

Well, let's see. What were the schoolyard classics:

Jingle bells, Batman smells,
Robin laid an egg,
the Batmobile lost a wheel,
and the Joker did ballet.
Hey!

and also …

Dashing through the snow
on a pair of broken skis.
Over the fields we go,
bashing into trees.
The snow is turning red.
I think I'll go home instead.
Duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh
I don't remember the rest!

But no really, I don't remember the last two lines, a devastating loss for the American canon, to be sure.

I woke up in a hospital
With stitches in my head!
