Largely, yes. Like in the movie Predator—if it bleeds, we can kill it.

Was it a pet fly? I had a pet fly once, and it drowned in a bottle of Drambuie I was drinking. I was heartbroken at the loss of such a loyal, coprophagous friend, and held a funeral for it. [:'(]

Did you toast your fallen friend or at least pour one out? (Ideally the one he was floating in?)

Yes! It was the very Drambuie bottle my fly was floating in. And yes, it was a male fly, so he didn't leave the beverage with the taste of toxic chemicals the way female flies do.

He floated out in it, yes. Flew around for 5 hours like he was gonna die, then when I leave the room he leaves a note.

I just noticed that the Wikipedia Article on African Romamce is considerably better than I remembered. Someone must have put some work into this.

So someone at D&D said "doots birty" instead of "dirty boots" (like 4 sessions in a row that kind of mistake was happening. Spoonerisms all of the shop), and we've unofficially started calling ourselves "Team Doots Birty"

Now, nerd tangent begins, "t" "b" "d" "t" in my note-taking script thing is symmetrical, so "Team Doots BirTy" ends up with symmetrical "radicals" (to steal a term from the Tibetan Script wiki) with the "D" and the "B" divided by a plural marker (which looks like an extended "3" or a yogh, more or less). The vowels and the other consonants are handled using diacritics

Right, play around with the shape of the letters a bit, tone down the colouring of the diacritics against a background colour and you get this:

A little pixelly low-res banner [:D]

Minor edit, for anyone who might want to see the original as well:

(although I typically use a less symmetrical "T")
You can tell the same lie a thousand times,
But it never gets any more true,
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you.
Just one time.

Oh lord, I remember a few months back when my friend Lamesha posted something mourning for Tina Turner. I checked Tina's Wikipedia page, and she was still alive! Her friends told Lamesha that Tina was still alive, and I finally found and linked Lamesha to an article about the hoax/urban legend that was circulating on the Internet saying Tina had already passed away. Lamesha was relieved!

Now Tina Turner really has died. And strangely, I don't see any posts on Lamesha's wall about it.

Pissed off at the National Spelling Bee.

https://spellingbee.com/round-results/1

As you can see, Reid's spelling was "sopaipilla". They said the correct spelling is "sopapilla", without the first i. According to Merriam-Webster Unabridged -- the official fictionary for the NSB -- "sopaipilla" is not only correct, but is even listed as the preferred spelling!

How can someone get out on a word he spelled right?! :mrred:

That's BS for sure. Wiktionary also considers "sopaipilla" the primary spelling. "Sopaipilla" is not a spelling you would guess; you'd only spell it that way if you knew it to be correct (which it is).

What’s the antecedent of “it”?
Your high fantasy?
High fantasy in general?
Reddit?
Which of those disgust you? Or, if you didn’t mean one of those, what is the object of your disgust?
