My gosh this looks terrible. But it could work.
That's it, Navajo's getting Canadian Syllabics (no, the good ones)

glad something good came out of Oligey's threads!
these are really cool. I recently got a book on Navajo, and I really love Canadian languages. fun combination!

I just realized this could be used for other stuff like Muskogean. But it breaks as soon as it hits more than 4 vowels.
I tried writing it out for Navajo. It looks nice. Maybe more efficient than Latin, but who knows.
Edit: And of course it'd work for other Athabaskan languages

Maybe have a line running through the triangle? (a strikethrough)...or underscoring it? Or just use a square/diamond instead of a triangle?

Re: That's it, Navajo's getting Canadian Syllabics (no, the good ones)
There are two things you need to know:
1) Canadian Aboriginal Syllabics aren't an alphabet - they're an abugida. Let's say I were to write something in, say, Inuktitut - e.g. the name of the language, Inuktitut. It would look like this:
ᐃᓄᒃᑎᑐᑦ
I - nu - k - ti - tu - t
Notice that each symbol normally contains both a consonant and a vowel. You would NOT write the word like this:
ᐃᓄᐅᑲᑎᐃᑎᐅᑎ
I - n(u) - u - k(a) - t(i) - i - t(i) - u - t(i)
As well, notice what makes the vowel change in this abugida: the rotation of the symbol. ᑎ is /ti/; ᑐ is /tu/.
Firstly, adding in another shape would not be adding a vowel - it would be adding a new consonant+vowel combo. That's not what we'd need. Secondly, a square shape would be a bad idea, since when you rotate a square 90 degrees, it looks exactly the same - which simply won't help in Canadian Syllabics.
2) So why not add a strikethrough? A fair point. However, the last time this was done, the consequences were pretty cumbersome: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier_syllabics. It's already been tried, and the results weren't very good.
