I am looking for something new in science fiction. I am tired of reading and watching the same old neatly categorized subgenres of space opera, cyberpunk, alt-history, etc. These are all fine, but is there anything really new and weird out there?

I'd honestly suggest looking back, at things like the olde pulp-scifi and before. The stuff before the genres were really defined can be really interesting.

You're right, some of that stuff can be really interesting, but what I'm looking for is something specifically new. I want something that has just been thought, something that rejects or uspercedes what came before.
