:eng: arm
:deu: arm 'poor' (can maybe be a body part too)

I really wonder if that has gone through a semantic shift.

Don't worry, I'll have your girlfriend give you the physical demonstration. I will just be videotap- err, documenting it all for scientific purposes [B)].

I use 'exhibition' to mean 'display' on a regular basis.

Nah it's two different words that shifted to the same form in Proto-Germanic, in most Germanic languages you'll find both words yet today; German has Arm 'arm' in addition to arm 'poor', Scandinavian languages have arm(ur) for both, and apparently arm can also mean 'poor' in certain English dialects.

Exhibition = art exhibition, trade exhibition > exposition in French.

Exhibition in French = display as in a display in a shop or as in a public display (provocative behaviour). Also used to refer to exhibiting animals.

So one would say exposition d'art contemporain rather than exhibition.

As a Croat,I can say that it is good that Czech and Croatian are partially intelligible so Croats can explain to Czechs that they only wanted to offer cold drink to Czechs.

They're just barely mutually intelligible enough to be useful, but optimally intelligible to sound hilarious for speakers of both languages, apparently.
