I don't want a really big house. If I had a big house, I think I'd probably feel really uncomfortable. I want a really small, cheap house.

My house is also really cheap. Hehe.

Wǒ yě bù tài xiǎng yào yīgè tài dà de fángzi. Ér duì wǒ lái shuō zhùzhǐ bǐjiào zhòngyào.
Watashi mo ōki sugiru ie ga hoshiku arimasen. Jūsho no kata ga ōki-sa yori jūyō da to omoimasu.
I also don't want a house that's too big. Location is more important to me.

Nà rúguǒ yǒu chūshēng yīgè néng mǎi dào yī jiàn dà jiànwù de jīhuì, wǒ juéduì bù huì chíyí, kěshì wǒ wéi yīgè yāoqiú jiùshì yào nàgè fángzi yǒu hěnduō xiǎo mìmì de fángjiān. Zhè zhǒng fángzi jiù biànchéng hǎoxiàng shì wéiduōlìyǎ shídài de shèjì.
Ōkī tatemono o kaeru kikai ga kitara, watashi wa zettai ni gaman dekina-sa-sōda to omoimasu. Demo watashi no hitsuyōna jōken wa takusan chīsai himitsu ga iremashita tokorodesu.
But if the opportunity to buy a large house arises, I obviously won't hesitate. But my only request is that there are many small secret rooms sort of like Victorian design.

To American houses, yep. They're also expensive. "Rip-off Britain".

Husen i Canada är av normalt mått.

I couldn't get "rip-off Britain" in that case. :|

The houses in Canada are of a normal size.

What does that mean, a "normal" size? It's likely that what's normal in Canada isn't the "normal" one'd find in the US. Also, a normal size in Toronto is probably smaller than what one'd find in the Ontario countryside.
Of course, the UK is a very expensive country; pretty much all of Europe, Japan, and Canada are expensive in comparison to the US. But it's all relative: they earn more than people from the US.

I don't think the houses in Canada are smaller than elsewhere.

Talar vi verkligen om husen? :|

Today I did a German reading test, which was diabolically difficult.
But somehow I got 35/50, which is top of the class.

Thames is such a weird way of spelling it... but at least I learned the French name now [:P]

It interests me how French and other languages change the names of places...When I was younger I thought that only Chinese changed them, but Spanish and French do it all the time. Look at names of people...John to Juan, etc.

The Italians too italianize some foreign names. "Her majesty Queen Elisabeth and her son Prince Charles". And London is located on the River Thames.

But such names also exist in German. The Thames, for example. Or some city names, like Tbilisi or Bolzano.

Generally names that aren't royal are left alone in Swedish, but placenames (especially European ones) often have proper Swedish forms, such as the Thames, Venice, Moscow and Copenhagen. They are fewer than in the major continental languages though, and often correspond to German forms.

Klang is masculine, and in der Nähe is indeed the correct translation for be close, but it's used as be close in a physical sense.
