Forum News discussion/feedback thread
Re: Forum News discussion/feedback thread
Eventually, we'll all be wondering how we lived prior to the change. I remember hating Wikipedia's switch from Monobook to Modern. Old days

I wish Frathwiki updated to Modern version. The text is large and easier to read. And it has some other interesting features like making popups to other pages when going over a hyperlink or allowing you to go to a footnote by clicking on the number.

Agreed re: the lack of contrast. I don't use FB, and use Stylish to make Wikipedia (and several other sites) "dark mode", with white-on-black writing and higher contrast. The pale blue on white/gray is difficult to read; a darker blue would be much easier...Shemtov wrote: ↑12 Nov 2017 02:22With all due respect, FB has that dark blue theme at the top, as opposed to the sky-blue the current CBB has, which works better contrast-wise. Also, all posters to your wall are in blue, allowing for more contrast, plus FB users are more likely to post images then CBB posters.Wiki has the heading size commonly used throughout the site, and has constant links and pictures, again, adding more contrast. I don't think the problem is the brightness, but the lack of contrast strains the eyes.
But, c'est la vie, I suppose.

Re: Forum News discussion/feedback thread
The avatar/banner icon issue is still alive and well on the mobile version. Is that fixable too?
Also, it looks like we can't delete posts in certain threads (maybe all threads, I've only tried once)? Probably a permission thing having to do with ranks or some such?

I just today tried to delete a duplicate post just minutes after posting it, and got told it had already been deleted.Thrice Xandvii wrote: ↑14 Nov 2017 06:18Also, it looks like we can't delete posts in certain threads (maybe all threads, I've only tried once)? Wasn't told who deleted it nor why.
Could it have been automatic somehow?

Why, all of a sudden, are we being inundated by porn spam?

Re: Forum News discussion/feedback thread
Maybe not porn spam but there is, currently, an example of spammitude barfed up by some user who just signed on today. This incident has been reported to the Proper Authorities.Frislander wrote: ↑17 Nov 2017 00:40What?!
Have I just been ignorant of this because of how fast the mods have been moving or what, somebody explain!
Re: Forum News discussion/feedback thread
Porn spam threads made by bots keep popping up in the Conlangs subforum, but the mods are pretty quick in taking them down. I remember when we had a kitchen repair spam flood, but that was probably due to our use of "Kitchen sink". But Porn? I don't get it.Frislander wrote: ↑17 Nov 2017 00:40What?!

I just saw an example of the porn spam and was about to report that message when it disappeared into the aethers!
Well, thank you to whoever among the Lords of the Instrumentality of this place have so swiftly dealt with the perps!but the mods are pretty quick in taking them down. Re: Forum News discussion/feedback thread
The "Kitchen repair" flood led to a clever member creating a Kitchen sink conlang named after one of the bots, but I can't find the thread.

Hmm, I wonder if this has anything to do with the conlangs backpage (the last page filled with posts/topics that don't exist written by a "Guest") Edit: As in does the cleanup process create that?elemtilas wrote: ↑17 Nov 2017 00:46I spoke too soon!Shemtov wrote: ↑17 Nov 2017 00:44Porn spam threads made by bots keep popping up in the Conlangs subforum,Frislander wrote: ↑17 Nov 2017 00:40What?!

Re: Forum News discussion/feedback thread
I doubt it, given that the thread titles are real, created by their real OP, and "opened" around proper dates, with 0 replies. The Guest from 1969 seems to be a glitch (or a Time-Lord).

No, actually I haven't!
I haven't heard this title being used here on CBB in reference to our most puissant and lordly Mods (bows genteely, with flourish). It has long been used at Conlang, Conculture, the Ill Bethisad Project, etc, etc.
Re: Forum News discussion/feedback thread
I think the popups are not part of the skin, but rather a gadget that is installed separately and is unique to Wikipedia. That or we're thinking of two different kinds of popups. Also, technicality, I think Modern is actually an *older* skin, older than Monobook, and Vector is just called Vector.
Anyway, hi. Nice to see you all. I post as Soap on the ZBB. I think I may have joined here a very long time ago, maybe 2007, and never posted. I didnt check though, I just decided to use a new username anyway.
I wont post much because Im on limited Internet access now and will be for probably at least a year. even gmail is difficult.

Welcome Pabappa! I’ve read some of your stuff on the ZBB where I lurk but don’t post much. Good to see you here too.
