Nice work!!Reyzadren wrote:So, because I can't type my conlang's conscript as a font here, I decided to use pictures to show how it is used in different applications instead.
Ancient herb book page.
An easy-peasy way to make yourself a font is http://www.myscriptfont.com. You basically print out this grid, hand-write / draw your runes on the grid, scan that in to their website and you get a .ttf at the end. I used that for Queranaran, even though it's kind of limited as to number of characters. It beats having to mess around with actual font creation software. (Mind you, if any kind soul out there would like to tackle that job...)
Once you install the font, you can use it in your favorite word processor or drawing program.
Re: Other Creativity
Actually, I already have a .ttf font for my conscript, and I used it while making the images above
What I meant was that there was no way to use/embed .ttf file formats on this forum, so I can't use the conscript whenever I reply to translation threads, and I can't be bothered to upload/make a new image for each gloss.

Amazing!
Is the young woman in the Employee ID card an actual metallurgist IRL or not?
Acquainted with you IRL or not?
If "not" and "not", can you tell us where you found her picture (or not)?
And BTW I really enjoyed your music on your soundcloud page.

No problem. The link is helpful for those who want a handwriting-to-font generator :)elemtilas wrote:I see! Sorry for the misunderstanding!
Nah, she is actually a celebrity, so I got the picture from her Instagram webpage. We can't just use pictures of random non-public people due to privacy reasons ;)eldin raigmore wrote:Amazing!

Edit: Are you allowed to use photos of friends and relatives and acquaintances, if they're past the age of majority, mentally competent, and give you their informed consent?
And, if so, have you ever done so? (Don't be too specific about exactly which uses you put their pictures to -- if you did.)

Re: Other Creativity
That looks great! You did a good job with the formatting. Are you using LaTeX or just Word? I may have to "borrow" some of your formatting choices to use in my Dijo textbook that looks more like a research paper than anything else at the moment - but then again, that's what LaTeX generally does without some serious work.Reyzadren wrote:Remember this? Now, you can open it and read the first few pages!Reyzadren wrote:
I tried to do it in a test prep style similar to SAT/MCAT/GRE/GCSE/A-level, but it's really just a quick for-fun thing. I probably have no intentions of completing the actual thing lol
Re: Other Creativity
The document was made with OpenOffice, so yea a word processor. However, if you are referring to the conscript, then it's just a .ttf font file, which unfortunately might not be suitable for your alphasyllabary.
Sure, you can follow this formatting style, though I might do some changes if I decide to continue it, like adding some random cute animal pictures

No school textbook is complete without random pictures of animals. Also, don't forget the picture of the guy mountain climbing in the unit about verb conjugation.Reyzadren wrote:The document was made with OpenOffice, so yea a word processor. I began a short story today, and am on a roll - four small pages in already! Maybe I'll
post it when it's done, but it's currently handwritten so I'd have to type it up first (and probably finish it :P )

Latest semi-creative output:
Spoiler:
And I'll dance with you in Vienna,
I'll be wearing a river's disguise;
The hyacinth wild on my shoulder,
My mouth on the dew of your thigh...
Looking for subjects to appear on banknotes. Inquire within.

"The world is not round. As one travels all the way to its end, it does not stop there, it goes upwards. Follow the wind, that's what they say. As you climb higher on the basalt stairs, you wonder if anyone has fallen off these rocktrailed steps. You are standing at the world's edge."

After the previous century's victories over the demons raised humanity's hopes, this tragic event served to shatter it completely.

"Every year, there is a race between the animals, plants and creatures in the kingdom. Each participant will traverse through a wide lake, rocky cliffsides and even on branches of the high canopy where the stadium is situated at. Are you ready? But wait, we have a new challenger. He has 2 legs, 2 hands and he stands upright. He's swinging from tree to tree."
