I only joined this board last year. The stats at the bottom of the page say that there were 731 users online at the time mentioned above. That's an order of magnitude more than I've ever seen online.

I tried doing an advanced search for posts made that day, but it seems to be impossible.

I tried looking up a snapshot of the site on the Wayback Machine, but the first time it was scraped was on March 8th of 2020.

I looked through posts made around that time manually, and didn't see anything notable. I'd expect some widely-viewed thing released around then linked to the forum for some reason.

It's also possible that there was some major conversation in the Everything Else subforum that was later pruned due to a subsequent year of inactivity.

Perhaps it was a hug of death. Someone on a more popular social media platform like Reddit may have linked here, causing a flood of traffic from unregistered users.

They moved it, I believe. The CBB was in a different place in 2005.

This would be my guess. From what I can tell, there was no spike in users (one person joined that day), there wasn't a massive number of posts that day, and from what I can tell, "users" doesn't distinguish between registered members and guests (I mean, it does, but still...). There's 123 users online right now, but I imagine a lot of that is, say, people who just have the site open in a tab (I do that with the ZBB), or bots

I can't find anything where we've deleted any posts on that day, but we definitely have had spambots on the Board trying to sell kitchens, lol
