British Romance Language Collablang
Re: British Romance Language Collablang
For questions 85 and 86, if it's not too much trouble, could we see what the current phonemic inventory is, along with a list of non-phonological changes we've made so far?

Is there a greater Scandinavian cultural and linguistic influence in this Britain?

So far, the phonemic inventory of Middle Brettaniot is as follows:shimobaatar wrote: ↑11 Nov 2018 05:11 For questions 85 and 86, if it's not too much trouble, could we see what the current phonemic inventory is, along with a list of non-phonological changes we've made so far?
/m n ɲ/ - <m n gn>
/p b t d k g/ - <p b t d c~qu g~gu>
/t͡s d͡z t͡ʃ d͡ʒ/ - <ç z ch~c j~g>
/f v s z ʃ/ - <f v s~ss s sci~sc>
/r l ʎ j w/ - <r l gl i u>
/i u e ə o a/ - <i~y~ui~iu u e e~a o a>
/ei oi ai eu ou au ea/ - <ei oi ai eu ou au e~æ>
As for non-phonological changes:
- The vowels /i u ou/ are rewritten as <i~y u ou>. (Old Brettaniot)
- The consonants /ɲ ʎ/ are rewritten as <gn gl>. (Old Brettaniot)
- Noun cases are lost.
- Word-final back vowels are dropped as they were in Middle English.
I figured that Scandinavian influence would be about the same as OTL, but there could be more influence in the north, possibly leading to a North/South divide similar to that between speakers of the langues d'oïl and speakers of Occitan languages in France.Cavaliers327 wrote: ↑12 Nov 2018 12:57 Is there a greater Scandinavian cultural and linguistic influence in this Britain?
Re: British Romance Language Collablang
Oh, this is the only change we've made that doesn't have to do with the phonology or orthography of the language?
Also, you've misattributed this_is_an_account's proposals to me in the post with this round's questions.
84: a
85: to this_is_an_account's proposal of /oi eu/ > /we jo/, with the addition of /ei ou ea/ > /je wo ja/
86: Loss of certain verb forms

88. C, Introduce Semi-Salic Law in succession
89. A, have some Brettaniot nobles assimilate into Anglo-French Nobility
Shouldn't you introduce Anglo-Norman forms of names into the Brettaniot language to show the pre-eminence of the Anglo-Norman language

EDIT: I changed the names.

a) Stephen of Blois, nephew of Guilliam II
89) What will be the fate of the Brettaniot nobility?
b) They will be replaced by Anglo-Norman nobles, but those nobles start speaking Brettaniot. A few of the previous Brettaniot nobles will keep their titles.

90) How should the nasals /m n ɲ/ be written?
a) /m n ɲ/ - <m n gn~ni> (The alternation for /ɲ/ is based on etymological differences)
b) /m n ɲ/ - <m n gn>
c) /m n ɲ/ - <m n ni>
d) Other.
91) How should the vowels /i u e ə o a/ be written?
a) Keep the outdated spellings they had in Old Brettaniot, but replace <æ> with <ea>.
b) /i u e ə o a/ - <i u e e~a o a> (The alternation for /ə/ is based on etymological differences)
c) Same as b but /i/ is also written as <y> to symbolize former /y/
d) Other.
92) Should Middle Brettaniot verbs maintain a distinction between the indicative and subjunctive moods.
a) Yes.
b) No.
c) Other.
93) Guilliam I dies in 1110 CE. Stephen I is now 19 years old and ready to rule Britain. Who should he marry?
a) Matilda of Boulogne - Since Matilda is descended from the Pre-Norman Kings of Lyndein, this would increase Stephen's legitimacy, as well as that of any heirs he produces.
b) Other.
